Retired Trustworthy Couple

Hi, I’m Diane and my husband is David. Thanks for reading our profile. A little about us . . . I joined David in full-time retirement in August of 2016. We both grew up with cats and dogs and carried on that tradition while bringing up our two sons — with four labs and numerous cats. As far as pet sitting experience for others goes, as of 1/1/23 we have logged in over 2,000 pet sitting days/nights caring for more than 300 dogs and cats for more than 200 pet families since retiring in 2016. We are both experienced with administering medications and Diane in giving insulin shots. We moved to Tucson in 2021 and continued offering care for local pets in their own homes with drop in visits and boarding dogs in our single-family home with enclosed, small back yard as well. We request that drop off and pick up times occur between 6AM and 8PM. Even though the Rover website shows us sending pictures at less than 50% of the time, rest assured we send pictures to 100% of our pet parents, almost every day and sometimes multiple times a day, usually via cell messaging. We really are home bodies and offer your pets both quality and quantity of our time. I have to say that we’ve bonded with every pet entrusted to our care. It is rare that we will both be gone from our home at the same time, so your pets will have almost 24/7 company. We absolutely love what we do — David will walk small to medium sized dogs in our neighborhood if they are OK with passing by other dogs (there are a lot of dogs in our neighborhood). We appreciate small dog lap-warmers while we watch TV. We follow every pet owner’s directions for their pets’ care as well as medication/feeding schedules exactly as requested. We will also keep you abreast of their care while you are away at the method and frequency you choose. If your pets could talk they will tell you we spoiled them terribly! For your added peace of mind we have the enhanced level of background security checks. Pet care is 100% of what we offer, on an almost 24/7 basis. We have absolutely no other obligations so we dote on your pets. Diane provides pet care in your home for cats and small-to-medium sized dogs with short walks or in-yard exercise. David is a homebody and is the official dog walker and primary care provider while we host pets in our home. We haven’t met a cat or dog yet that we haven’t fallen in love with and we’d love to meet and care for yours. While your pets are with us, our home is their home. Not too big, not too small, as Goldilocks would say — just right. We have an enclosed cinderblock 6 foot wall in the backyard but even so, regardless of your pets’ size one of us will be out there with them at all times. They are NEVER let outside without our supervision. Our neighborhood has only one entrance road in, and that same road out; hence, very safe with no through traffic. It has about 80 homes, so large enough to walk dogs through several streets unencumbered. Your dog will get exercise with neighborhood walks and in the backyard; however, WE WILL NOT TAKE YOUR DOG TO A DOGPARK. Your dog will be under our control 100% of the time, be it in our home, in the backyard or on a leash. If we are boarding your cat and dog together, your cat(s) will have their own privacy with our cat closet. This has it’s own brushed entrance that gives your cat a mini-grooming while entering or exiting. The cat littler box is inside on the floor level and the food and water can be on the first shelf up, so your dog can not get to either. Knock on wood, with over 200 pets we’ve cared for in the past 6 years we’ve never had an issue with even one of them getting loose. Lastly, we want to share our appreciation to our pet parents who have taken the measures to groom their pets prior to coming to visit us — very much appreciated. We also will share that dogs jumping up on furniture and/or beds uninvited would probably be happier elsewhere. Cats getting on furniture and beds is expected, but not getting on tables and kitchen counters is also expected.

Diane and David were a fantastic couple to leave our dog with. They provided great communication and photos during the stay. I will absolutely be going to them again in the future when we need a second home for our dog

Diane and David were absolutely wonderful! From the moment we met them, we knew our dog would be in great hands. They are kind, attentive, and clearly experienced with pets. We received regular updates and photos that showed our pup was happy, relaxed, and being treated like family. It’s such a relief to know we have trustworthy sitters who genuinely care. We highly recommend Diane and David to anyone looking for safe, loving dog boarding — we’ll definitely be booking with them again! Thank you!

Schedule

Our routine is pretty simple, we are both retired and that’s all we do is pet sit. David is the primary care giver with our boarded pets (in our home), while Diane is the pet sitter who comes to your home and lovingly cares for you pets in their own home, mostly with drop-in visits. Diane will be offering pet care services in the pets home on a limited basis, as not wanting to be away from home all the time.

Where your pet will stay

Non-smoking household
Has no pets
No children present
Dogs not allowed on bed
Dogs not allowed on furniture
Potty breaks every 0-2 hours

Safety, trust & environment

For our boarded pets we have a 6’ fenced in cinderblock small back yard. All pets are supervised 100% of the time, be it in our home or in the backyard, which is large enough to play fetch. We expect the boarded pets’ behavior to be the same as what we expected of our own dogs and cats years ago. In the client’s home Diane is respectful of your privacy and will not go into anything outside of the kitchen without your permission.

A typical day

We will continue with your pets’ daily routines. No matter what your pets are used to as far as attention goes, we always smother them with love, hugs, petting, brushings and heaps of attention! Walks are always very early in the morning before it gets too hot (except for in the winter). Potty breaks to the enclosed backyard are offered whenever the pets needs it, with a rare maximum time being alone in the home to be only two hours.

We have watched all breeds from Chihuahuas to Great Danes, including pit bulls, ranging from 8 to 185 pounds. We only ask that your dog be social, or at least complacent, with his/her caregivers. We have three reasons for not accepting an assignment: (1) if dog walking is required and your dog pulls or bolts while on the leash, especially if they are large and/or strong, (2) if a dog barks constantly without reason, and (3) we may pass on booking extremely short (1-3 day/night) boarding assignments months in advance as it will limit us in being offered longer assignments, especially during school breaks and holidays. We will take dogs on walks; but, as mentioned before, will not take them to dog parks. We take our responsibility seriously and will not subject your dog to other dogs while in our care. If you share specific games your dog likes to play, then we can offer to play those too.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
