hiii, I’m Devin! (I’m new to Rover.com) I have (ongoing) experience volunteering at multiple humane societies, volunteering at an animal sanctuary, pet sitting, and I’m going into a Veterinary Technician program next year! I spend lots of my time caring for, playing with and loving animals with different personalities, needs, and comfort levels. Patience, consistency, and making animals feel safe and comfortable is very important. Volunteering and spending my time with animals reinforces how important it is to meet the needs of every specific individual animal. Im comfortable following specialized care and medical instructions carefully and paying close attention to changes in behaviour or needs. I’ve given prescribed medication to animals in many ways, many times so I’m 100% okay and accommodating to special care animals. I’m especially good with shy, anxious, or sensitive animals and try to create a calm, low-stress environment for them. I read, watch and learn lots about animals everyday. I have many certifications around animals as well; like the ‘Fear Free’ certification for example. What sets me apart is my experience and also that I genuinely care about animals as individuals and that I take the time to understand their individual personalities, routines, and boundaries rather than treating care as “just a job”. This is something I’m very passionate about.
