Hi, I’m Des! I’m so excited to meet you and your furry, scaly, or feathery family members! I’ve had the opportunity to work as a zookeeper at an AZA-accredited zoo, where I cared for and trained a wide variety of animals using positive-reinforcement techniques. This experience gave me a deep understanding of animal behavior and taught me how to safely and confidently handle animals with all kinds of personalities, needs, and comfort levels. I’m comfortable caring for just about any animal you can think of! I’ve also worked as a veterinary assistant at an animal hospital, where I assisted with medical procedures and cared for animals recovering from surgery and illness. This experience taught me how to stay calm and think quickly in emergency situations while strengthening my commitment to the health and well-being of every animal in my care. I am able to administer sub q fluids and medications, and perform nail trims. I was also previously certified in canine and feline CPR and First Aid. Animals have always been a huge part of my life. Over the years, I’ve had guinea pigs, cats, dogs, and rats of my own, and I’ve previously worked professionally as a dog walker and pet sitter in Denver, CO for Happy Hound Playground. I currently study biology, with the goal of continuing my career working with animals. Whether your pet is outgoing and playful, shy and cautious, elderly and needing extra care, or simply has their own unique routine, I’ll take the time to get to know them and make sure they feel safe and comfortable while you’re away! Your pets will receive the same patience, attention, and love that I would want someone to give my own animals. 💕

I love walking pups and have experience with reactive dogs. Building confidence through positive reinforcement to provide a better experience to the dogs in my care brings me a lot of joy.

Des is a gem who clearly cares so much about animals and making sure they are cared for. She always makes effort to ensure my cat gets her meds even when she tries to hide under the bed. I always look forward to all the photos!
We were out of town for a long trip and Des came to watch our cats twice a day while we were gone. She cared for them well and went above and beyond with her visits! She engaged our two cats with various enrichment activities for different senses, and fully earned the trust of our very anxious girl. Both cats clearly loved her and we appreciated her thoroughly updates and cute pictures. We would absolutely recommend Des!
