I work freelance, so my schedule is pretty flexible and I am able to stay home a lot and be with the pets. I have a car to get to people's homes easily for daytime checkins/walks.

Depends on the client's specific needs but usually for housesitting I stay at the house and am home often, so I'm able to give the pets attention and care, and let them out for bathroom breaks and walks regularly as needed. I can do basic household stuff like take out trash, clean up after pets, water plants, whatever is needed.

A typical day
Playing fetch or playing with cat toys. Taking walks/runs exploring the neighborhood. I like taking dogs to the woods if it’s nearby. The weather is cooler, and there are a lot of different sights and smells to stimulate them.

Pet care experience
I've been taking care of neighbor's cats and dogs since childhood, including overnight house sitting. I've had cats for most my life and have worked with big and small dogs, young and old, including dogs that need a lot of exercise. I have experience taking care of other domestic mammals like rabbits, chinchillas, rats, mice, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, and hedgehogs, as well as exotic birds and reptiles. I'm a big animal over; I majored and worked in wildlife conservation, and am passionate about domestic and wild animals.

Des is terrific with the animals and very responsible as a house sitter. We have known him since he was a little kid and trust him completely. When we return from a trip, the animals are calm and the house and yard are in great shape. He genuinely loves the animals and pays attention to them. Highly recommended!
Des has been coming to look after our pets for several years. Our very high-energy lab loves going for walks and runs with him. He’s always respectful of our home and understands its various quirks (sticky door jamb, lock that turns backwards). He’s trustworthy and gentle, and patient even with the most high strung of labs.
