I have a partially fenced in backyard. My dog (IVY) is trained to stay inside our property lines and let out while supervised. If I’m at a clients house, I usually just use a lead. But I’m flexible to however you’d like me to do things.

Please let me know any special needs or specific preferences your dog has, as well as any behavioral tendencies. Specifically, those towards children, other people, other animals, etc.. Also, any specific body language to look out for. (For example, when my dog needs to go to the bathroom, she will sit in a specific place in our house and wait for someone to take her out).
A typical day
I love to take dogs on walks, hikes, adventures, and (if the dog is comfortable) car rides. We live in the beautiful Hudson Valley and I’ve been an avid hiker for about 3 years now. I take my dogs to places like; Vanderbilt, Mt. Beacon, and even just the quaint little park by my house. This, of course, all depends on the dog. I want them to have just as good a time as me, so I tailor every adventure to your dogs specific preferences/needs. And I always carry my “go-bag”, which has everything the dog may need while we’re out and about.

Hello there! My name is Derek and I love dogs. When I was young, I wasn’t allowed to have a dog. So I made sure I learned everything I could about them so I was everyone’s “go-to guy” for dog sitting. I’m even known a bit in my town as the “dog whisperer”, seeing as Im able to befriend every dog I meet. Im now the proud papa of a red pitbull and I love her more than I thought possible. I know dog cpr and comfortable around all breeds. Currently, I work as an actor and looking to do this as a side gig between roles. Cant wait to meet you and your pup! Have a wonderful day!

Highly recommend! We left our miniature doxin with Derek during our stay in upstate NY -- it was the first time she'd been away from us and of course we were a bit nervous. Derek did an amazing job of putting our minds at ease, arriving early to spend time with her to make her comfortable and following all of her routines perfectly. He was extremely friendly and very calming -- a perfect fit for us. He messaged us throughout the evening with updates and photos -- it truly could not have gone any better. We will be booking Derek again for sure on our next trip and would recommend anyone looking for a reliable pet sitter reach out to him. 10/10 would recommend him!
Derek is a friend to all animals, but especially dogs. He loves dogs of all breeds and sizes and often seems out any dogs in whatever area he's in, if they don't seek him out first. Dogs also love Derek and I've seen him get close to dogs that have been considered difficult to pet or walk. His energy is great and dogs feel comfortable around him. He adores his own dog, Ivy, and she completely loves and trusts him.
