Safety, trust & environment

In Your Home: When I come by for drop-ins or to pick up your dog, I treat your home with total respect. I always make sure doors are securely locked, keys are safely stored, and your home is exactly how you left it. Plus, I love giving cats and dogs lots of love, refreshing their water, and making sure they are comfy before I leave. Out on Walks: Safety is everything when we are out on an adventure. I always keep dogs securely on-leash, stay highly aware of our surroundings, and steer clear of any unpredictable situations or unfamiliar dogs. Keeping You Posted: I know how hard it is to be away, so I always send a quick update and some cute photos during or right after my visit. You'll never have to wonder how they are doing!

Information Denise O. would like to know about your pet

I believe every pet is an individual and I want to make sure I provide the best care possible for yours. Before we get started, I like to learn a bit about your pet’s personality and routine. It’s really helpful for me to know about any specific 'triggers' or fears they might have (like loud noises or other dogs), as well as any health needs or medications I should be aware of. I also love to hear about their favorite ways to play, what motivates them, and any house rules they follow.

A typical day

I really love getting to know each pet’s personality, so I like to mix up our activities to keep things fun and engaging. For dogs, I’m a big fan of combining physical exercise like brisk walks or playing fetch with mental enrichment, like scent games and/or puzzle toys. I’ve found that giving a dog a 'job' to do, even if it’s just sniffing out hidden treats, is often more tiring and satisfying for them than just running around. I also like to use positive reinforcement to practice basic cues or learn new tricks, which is a great way to build trust and keep their minds sharp. For more relaxed pets, I’m happy to just hang out, offer some gentle grooming, or play with their favorite toys. My main goal is to make sure your pet feels happy, safe, and mentally stimulated while you’re away."

Pet care experience

I’ve had a love for animals for as long as I can remember. As a little kid, I would spend hours at my aunt’s house playing with her dogs — my mom would even have to come call me so I’d finally go home! Growing up, I had many different types of pets, but the one thing I always dreamed of having was a dog of my own. I begged my parents for years, and when I finally got my first dog at 13 years old, he instantly became my whole world. From a very young age, I was always the person friends and family trusted with their pets. I watched a friend’s cat while they were away and even cared for my school’s bunny for an entire day! Later on, when I moved to Sydney, Australia, I volunteered at an animal rescue center and spent the next 10 years pet sitting for both dogs and cats — something I truly loved and felt very passionate about. I have experience caring for dogs and cats of all ages, from energetic puppies and kittens to sweet senior dogs who need extra patience and attention. I recently lost my own beloved senior dog, so I deeply understand the gentle, specialized care, and massive amount of love older pets need in their golden years. Because of this, I’m incredibly comfortable monitoring their comfort, administering medication, and making sure they feel entirely safe and relaxed while you are away. Caring for animals has always come naturally to me, and I treat every pet with the same love, patience, and attention I would give my own. <3

Denise not only met our expectations as a dog walker and carer, she exceeded them. Her dedication and attention to our pets gave us much needed peace of mind when they were away from us for any period of time. They were so happy after their walks. They are always so excited to see her when she arrives and they truly love her. She also taught them some basic commands and tricks for fun. She was punctual and accommodating to our changing needs. Highly recommended!

My puppy enzo that i got from an organisation loved Denise. While i was at work she would look after him and take very good care of him. She treated him very well and even taught him some tricks! She would be very playful with him, long walks that he loves and when she moved away he was very upset by all the love she showed him.

Denise is one of the best dog sitters we have had. She has a special connection with animals so that they love being in her care and they listen to her. She is totally trustworthy in every aspect so we completely trusted her picking up and dropping the dogs back to our home. She is a lovely human being and communicates well so that we could easily make plans which included vet visits or special medications. We could not recommend Denise more highly.
