No powerful breeds please

Please note, our condo master insurance policy bans these breeds and any mix bearing significant resemblance to: Pit Bulls, Bull Terriers, other bully breeds Dobermen Rottweilers German Shepherds Chow Chows Cane Corsos Akitas I already get a big courtesy being allowed to run this and my piano teaching business out of my home, so I don't want to push it. I also have to prioritize the teaching which is higher income, and make sure my families are never uncomfortable with any dogs, so I have to make sure that any of the big dogs not only are, but LOOK like, gentle giants. I grew up with rotties and dobies, it's not MY restriction, it's jus..t something I have to follow to be able to host any dogs at all. Is your dog stressed out by lots of loud barking, activity, etc.? We have a low-key home offering lots of soft, cuddly surfaces (including laps), belly rubs, and soothing music. Your dog will get to play indoors if he or she wants to, as we have a large space. I also provide 3 relief breaks per day. I also accept dogs who use indoor pads, in part or exclusively, I only ask that you bring a sufficient quantity for your stay. My husband and I are owners and established residents of the neighborhood, so you can be confident that if you book with us, we will be available for future visits. We also live a drug-free, healthy lifestyle, and will always be mentally alert and professional while your dog is with us.

Denise took great care of my senior dog over a holiday weekend. She was super responsive, and asked all the right questions. My pup seemed very happy with Denise. Would definitely recommend her!

Our pup, Gus, is a tricky dog. He's sweet but has a lot of anxiety and we've had trouble even finding dog walkers who Gus will let take him out. He had never really been away from our family, so when we were planning our vacation, we needed to find a place where we knew he'd be comfortable. We have know Denise and her husband, Donald, for over 10 years. We recently moved from Brooklyn, but having watched them care for their own dog and other Rover clients throughout the years, we knew that it was worth the 1 hour detour to leave him in their care. Denise was prompt to respond and flexible with our schedule. Both she and her husband give a lot of thought into what makes their Rover guests comfortable and happy. Lots of long walks, toys and attention. Gus likes to sleep on our bed and Denise told me that one night he seemed especially lonely so she slept out on the couch to keep him company. I would recommend Denise without hesitation. We feel lucky to have a place to send Gus where we are sure he is in great and loving hands.

Schedule

Every morning we do feeding and outside potty time giving everyone a 5-15 minute walk according to their energy and needs. If multiple dogs are staying, one dog is likely to get the long walk at this time. Most mornings I work from home, go out for1-5 hours midday, and return by 5 for another set of relief walks, longer if weather is good . Dogs are fed separately in the evening and get a potty break before bed. In very hot weather I try to delay all the long walks until night when the pavement is cool,

Safety, trust & environment

Our apartment is large and through the use of baby gates, we keep dogs from different families separated when we have to leave the house. My husband is able to work from home one day a week and I often work from home. While we do our best to stay home with dogs, occasions do arise where we both have a traditional work day. If your dog cannot be left alone 8-9 hours, please let us know so we can check the dates requested and make sure it's not going to be an issue.

A typical day

We walk around the neighborhood, play tug or catch in the living room, and dogs get lots of belly rubs and ear scratching on the sofa!

We try to avoid higher energy dogs, as they will be happier in a more active home. We also avoid powerful breeds, as we do have breed restrictions on our homeowner's insurance restrictions.
