Having been hired the past year for a 6-month machine learning research contract in D.C., I had briefly moved there with my, at the time, 4 year-old morkie named Ryuu. He is an extremely intelligent hypoallergenic small dog, but had not been neutered when I had him, leading him to be extremely hyperactive and, at times, showing signs of defiance towards men without any aggression. The research was mostly remote, but there were days where I would have to be at the office from 9 to 5. I then went through various apps and platforms to find an adequate dog sitter, when I stumbled across Demarro’s announcement online advertising his services. I was uncertain whether he would be a good fit due to my dog’s defiance towards women, but after a phone call and a great first impression, I had arranged for the two to meet. Quite surprisingly, Ryuu took a liking to him despite being a man of great stature, and after having seen them interact and more lengthy conversations, I had hired him for a 3-hour trial. When I came back, my dog was calm, well-fed, and seemed extremely happy. Further, when Demarro was getting ready to leave, Ryuu genuinely got sad and angry at his departure. I have hired him over a dozen times after that, and he has never ceased to exceed my expectations. My dog really was sad when we moved back, but from time to time we would have video calls and Ryuu would get very excited at the sound of his voice, even going as far as looking for him throughout my apartment.
