Pet care experience
Experienced - Retired and Available
My senior Staffordshire/Fox Hound mix recently passed away and I miss the camaraderie, fun, and smell of a dog. My husband and I had a pet-sitting business before we got too busy with our careers, Each of us had a dog and cat growing up; I had a bunny and a turtle. Our own dog was certified as a therapy dog who visited local nursing homes. I need more pets in my life.

I am beyond grateful that we connected with Deb! She welcomed our energetic pup Jack into her home over the holidays and took excellent care of him. She stayed in touch and sent us regular video and photo updates. We could tell Jack felt loved and at home with Deb. We would absolutely recommend her to anyone seeking a caregiver for their fur baby in NYC.

Debra took wonderful care of Addie; we appreciate her very much.
When it became clear to us that our dog, a Shar Pei named Shao Mai, was not thriving when kenneled during times we were traveling we learned from our community's word of mouth about Debra. She offered to come to our apartment to feed and walk Shao Mai or to board him in her apartment--her building is identical to our own and right next door. This was for us, and for a maturing Shao Mai, a life saver. Debra bonded to him and he to her immediately. She is truly an animal lover who cares and goes the extra mile. Later, when the time came for Shao Mai to face his final days, Debra came to our apartment to sit with and comfort him, which was a comfort and relief to us.
Debra was excellent. She took a great care of Lotus. Sent us regular updates and photos. Great at communicating. We came home to a happy dog. Would hire again!

Deb is my mom, and we shared a dog together for 12 wonderful years. She has a true love for animals and goes above and beyond to make sure they feel safe, happy, and cared for. Deb is reliable, responsible, and trustworthy. You can count on her to follow routines and give pets the attention they deserve. Any dog would be lucky to spend time with her, and I can’t recommend her enough as a sitter.
I’ve known Debra over 32 years as a friend and neighbor. She cared for my cat and apartment for five weeks while I was out of the country. As a Mom, dog owner and dog lover I can’t think of anyone more suited to care for your pet.

Schedule
I have a flexible schedule. I’m retired and, in addition to caring for pets, I will be tutoring kids with dyslexia or other learning challenges.

Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
I always keep pets in my care leashed (even in areas where unleashed pets are allowed. I don’t take pets to the dog park even though we have a big beautiful one near me. You just never know what could happen. I take leashed dogs on long walks where appropriate and play as much as they like. I care for pets as instructed.
A typical day
Mostly walks, long walks as appropriate. I play fetch, and pick-up, and whatever they like. I brush dogs as long as they enjoy it and provide the brush.
