I'm an early riser. The dog is often my alarm clock. I prefer to let the dog out in a fenced yard. If the dog is well-trained on a leash, I can walk it and pick up droppings. We enjoy breakfast. I avoid people food, no matter how much they beg, unless you tell me otherwise. Active dogs want to play. Most will show me their favorite toy or game. I am retired but work from home. I am an artist and post my work online. I will ask for your wifi connection. Most pets stay with me while I work. We take frequent breaks to play, cuddle, or go out. The dog tells me what he/she is used to, along with your instructions. I'll follow your feeding and treats schedule to the letter. Later in the day, we watch TV. Many dogs enjoy Animal Planet or sporting events. I am an NFL fan and find many pets like the games too. At bedtime, I am OK if your pet wants to sleep with me.

Safety, trust & environment
I find that a family with a fenced yard works best for your dog and for me. Your pet may act differently on a leash around other people or animals with me than they do with you. Keeping them safely in a yard avoids them breaking free of their collar or tangling with another dog. I will rarely need to leave your home during my stay, but if I do, your pet will be secured per your instructions and your home locked.
Information Deborah S. would like to know about your pet
It's important to stay on the schedule your pet is used to. It's helpful to write down the times for main events like feeding. Dogs are smart and might try to push boundaries. I will not "bend the rules" by feeding people food or offering dog treats more than normal. If there are things you are trying to teach your dog, let me know, and I'll work with them.
A typical day
Active dogs will want to play, and I do too. A good game of fetch or tug-of-war is always fun. I prefer to work for families with fenced yards. We can play freely without worry of your dog slipping its collar or other dogs trying to join in where they may not be welcome. Older or settled dogs will want to nap. If napping takes place near me or in my lap, that's OK with me.

Pet care experience
I've owned a dog most of my life. I love dogs, but at this stage of life, I find it more rewarding to care for other people's pets and not own one of my own. I had a black lab for 14 years. She was my best friend. I'm sure you feel the same way, which is why you are looking for a sitter. Why place your pet in a kennel when I can stay with them in the home they know? Take that long weekend, or extended stay, knowing your home and pet are safe under my care.
Reviews
I have hired Deborah to care for 2 of my dogs, Kendra who passed in February of 2026, and now Max who is just 6 months old. I wanted someone that would pet sit in my home so not to stress my furry friends out and stay on the training routine. Most recently went on a 7-day trip and Deborah was punctual, professional and loves Max as if he is hers. She would send me text updates and photos while I was away to ease my mind. I never have to worry when I go out of town as long as I can hire Deborah to watch Max.
Debbie watched our dog for us for two weeks. While we were gone she sent us pictures as well as videos so we could see that Zhuri was having the time of her life with Ms. Debbie! I never had to question if she needed anything. Would definitely recommend Debbie and will definitely be booking with her again for our next trip!
