Cat Behaviorist | Feline Specialist

IG: parkslope.cat.whisperer * Accepting new clients ONLY in North Park Slope area. Meet & Greet required for 1st booking. ** When booking, please include: 1) location/cross-streets, 2) timing flexibility & preferred time range, 3) confirm if cat has contagious conditions or has had cat cold/URI before (past colds/URI are fine, but helps me take proper precautions), 4) any medical needs As a cat behavior consultant with 25+ years experience in cat care and 10 years of animal training, I prioritize play and enrichment for all cats. I'm passionate about providing behavior-informed and enrichment-driven cat care to reduce your cat’s stress while you’re away. Specialized in shy & fearful cats, I also have a 100% success rate in getting shy or fearfully aggressive cats to either come to me or play from afar on my 1st booked visit. In just the past 2 years, I’ve successfully trained over 100 cats in Park Slope area, including many of my catsitting clients. For regular repeat clients, I often offer free behavior modification training via positive reinforcement as part of my cat care whenever I have extra time (i.e., clicker training, departure desensitization & counter-conditioning for cats with separation anxiety, mental enrichment training like learning to sit, touch or spin, harness training, kitten socialization, or feline enrichment requests like treat treasure hunts). If you’re interested in cat behavior consulting, please feel free to ask. A lifelong cat lover & TNR-certified rescuer, I first began rescuing & socializing feral cats at age 4. I’ve also been a loving cat parent to 5 cats from kitten to senior age. I understand the expectations and concerns cat parents share, and am committed to keeping your cat happy, safe & healthy. Since cat sitting is a long-term passion project of mine, I care more about quality time getting to know your cat than maximizing my total # of pet clients. I patiently commit myself to figuring out how to make your cat feel safe, happy & relaxed enough around me to purr on their own timing (& will send you purring videos once they do!). Experienced with kittens, senior cats with special needs/chronic illnesses, rescued ferals, and cats that are anxious, extremely shy, fearfully aggressive, or have neurological challenges. I’ve also administered oral, ear, eye & asthma medications, as well as injections. A proactive problem solver, I’m always prepared & communicative in troubleshooting any unexpected pet problems with you to ensure your cat remains safe & happy while you're away!

Safety, trust & environment

😺 Keeping a safe, clean & healthy environment for your pet is my priority! I'm meticulous in following care instructions for your pet :). 🏡 Considerate & respectful of rules/preferences you have for your home. Will always respect your privacy! 🦠 For safety of other cats, please inform me of fleas, feline herpes (possible or confirmed), or other contagious pet illnesses (i.e., URI, Giardia, FCV, FVR, panleuk, ringworm), or parasites/protozoal BEFORE I meet your pets. Cat colds are generally contagious. Knowing in advance helps me avoid scheduling time with other cats right after seeing yours & do any necessary disinfection. I am unable to care for cats with fleas, scabies, roundworm, ringworm, or any infection/parasite/protozoal that can be transmitted to humans. 📸 I customize frequency of updates to your personal preference. ⛔ Will never bring visitors to your home. Only exception is if you explicitly offer an option to invite a cat-experienced friend over. ** Last-minute cancellations done either w/in 24 hrs of booking, or later than 12 pm day before booking (whichever one comes earlier) will not be refunded. Rover has agreed this policy can supersede theirs as long as this policy is shared on my profile or w clients before booking.

Deborah has been my go-to sitter for over a year now, and this is the second time I’ve had her for extended overnight stays and she was great! I have a 16 year old, very needy girl, and Deborah goes above and beyond to make sure she adjusts well, eats well, and also has fun! Between treat puzzles/hunts, cat tv, cuddles, play, and care, it makes me less stressed to leave knowing Luna is in the best of hands with Deborah! Deborah communicates well, and especially with updates on anything I have concern with - my cat has CKD so eating and hydrating are utmost importance! And as mentioned, she is a needy gal and needs lots of human interaction as well, and Deborah’s extensive knowledge on cat behavior is hugely helpful to keep her stimulated and comfortable. Truly can’t recommend her enough for your kitties! Thanks Deborah!

Schedule

I work remote and have a flexible schedule. If drop-ins provide wifi access, I'm happy to occasionally gift some free time working next to your pet in your home, with occasional play, petting & attention on non-holiday weeks & depending on my schedule that day (this is in addition to your dedicated drop-in time where your pet gets my full attention).

Cats
Deborah can host up to 15 drop-ins per day
Any quirks, fears, likes/dislikes, medications, health issues, and acting out behaviors your pets previously had when you were away. Emergency contacts, vet info & carrier location. I always want to be prepared in case of any time-sensitive building emergencies or pet health issues, which I will always contact you about first. I'll have a checklist of questions to more intimately get to know your pet's personality/temperament and your petsitting/housesitting preferences once I arrive for our Meet & Greet ;).
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
