Deborah can care for
Availability
I am a retired teacher and more recently a home care provider for the elderly. My schedule is now cleared to care for your pet. I recently visited a friend who works with animals under this Rover organization and I thought that this would be a perfect way for me to care for animals but on a part-time basis. I love animals and would love to care for them and my schedule is now cleared to do just that. I have a poodle and wouldn't want any aggressive animals in my home, but may consider occasional dog-sitting in my home. I have had a foster dog and a foster cat for military families in the past. My sisters both raise service dogs but I am choosing to care for animals with Rover.

Meeting with the owner of the pet along with the pet will be very important to help me best care for your pet. At one time I was out of state and needed emergency pet care and I understand how important it is to know that your pet-sitter is dependable and will best care for and connect with you and your beloved dog or cat. They are members of our families, sometimes like our children, and I would want to care for your dog(s) or cat(s) with the care and dedication that I want for my own dog.
Information Deborah D. would like to know about your pet
Our dog is given oral medications daily so I am experienced with that. I have cared for an older foster dog as well as my own dogs - puppy through geriatric stages. First off I would want to know what the owner is requesting as they best know their dog or cats needs. How do they handle feeding...how many meals a day...any additives to the meal...what time does the pet normally eat? If walking the dog...how long of a walk, what type of a leash, any areas to avoid? Any medications? How will the dog most likely react to me? Afraid? Aggressive? Will the cat/dog be hiding? Any areas on the body that the dog or cat doesn't like to be touched? Does the pet have a nickname? What other pertinent information does the pet owner think I should know?
A typical day
To start with I am not taking pets into my home, I am making home visits to feed and exercise the loved pet. I may consider hosting a pet into my home if it gets along with my dog. We have a fenced in backyard and a great place to walk dogs. In general in someone else's home I will walk dogs in safe environments, play with them indoors or in their yard, feed them, pet them, play with them as appropriate to the pet owner's requests.
