Pet care experience

Where a dog can be a dog!

Do you have a social pup that prefers a peaceful experience over the noisy chaos of a kennel or daycare? Balanced dogs (and humans!) instinctively understand that the best way to grow and learn from each other is in a safe, positive environment. Let my place be your dog’s home away from home! Dogs are family here and will spend time as part of a harmonious pack existence with other well-screened guest dogs Arrival for drop offs and pickups are BY APPOINTMENT ONLY, during normal business hours (no early mornings or evenings/nights) and with limited hours on the weekends. You may request a time range in the booking and I will try to accommodate your schedule. Times will automatically be adjusted to a 30 minute window. I understand things happen when you’re traveling, but arrivals outside of our appointment window may need to be rescheduled. Your consideration and puncuality are appreciated! Pickups after 4pm will be charged an additional night.

Bernie had a great time at Debbie’s house…. Seemed oblivious to my arrival on pick-up day, which i consider high praise for Debbie’s care.

Debbie was very thorough with getting to know Cornelius’ needs. She did a great job with his food schedule and helping Cornelius get water with his meals. Cornelius also had fun playing with her two doggies. I’ll be trusting her again with my boy!

My first stay with Debbie for my 2 boys and I couldn't be happier. They seemed to have a great time from the pics she sent me and they ate well. I appreciate someone who can take care of my 4 legged children so well. Highly recommended.

I grew up in Columbia, SC and have lived in my current home since 2002. I have over 35 years of experience caring for dogs. I now do this full-time because I love it! My business model has evolved over the years. I recognize that we all need a more peaceful existence and I enjoy being able to provide that for your dog while you are traveling.

Safety, trust & environment

Why choose me? Your pup stays in a home environment with daily life and routines that they are comfortable with ~Dogs are my full-time job and priority ~Your dog will be closely observed. Health, behavior, and stress levels can be detected and managed quickly ~Your dog will never be left alone at night ~Dogs are given free rein for the majority of the day with lots of potty breaks and outdoor time ~I maintain a calm and clean environment. Behaviors indicative of unmanaged anxiety will be disqualified

Pets

A typical day

Advanced screening ensures amiable group dynamics, then we are free to safely hang out with no pressure. We focus on mental stimulation through awareness of each other, learning to read body language, sense energy in the environment, and communicate our needs and emotions effectively. I have learned so much from observing dogs in a pack environment, my hope is that everyone begins to appreciate how our dogs can guide us to use our natural instincts towards peace. Daily activities may include: ~Supervised play with other dogs ~Fetch, chase, tug, and other games ~Water fun with hose, sprinkler, and doggie pool ~Walks in the neighborhood or to the park ~Variety of chew toys, bones, balls, squeakys and other toys ~Napping with friends, on couches, dog beds, floor…their choice ~Lots of belly rubs ~Treat time!

Spayed and neutered dogs only
No females in heat
Debbie can host up to 10 pets per night
We must schedule a meet and greet so that I can assess new dogs before accepting a reservation. Therefore I cannot take last minute requests (less than a week notice) or out-of-towners. Who is a good candidate for my place? ~Dogs that are well-socialized and enjoy being around other dogs ~Dogs that are house-trained (exceptions made for young puppies) ~Dogs that are not possessive or territorial with food, treats, toys, space, or humans ~Dogs that are spayed or neutered (exceptions made for young puppies) ~Dogs that can remain calm while crated, gated, or otherwise separated from me while I meet with other owners/guests, and/or at nighttime ~Dogs on the smaller side should be comfortable and confident around high energy dogs of all sizes ~Rabies, DHLPP, and Bordetella must be current ~Dogs must be on a year-round flea program ~No escape artists (digging, climbing, dashing through open doors or gates and taking off) Please note:The meet and greet will last at least 30 min and isn’t a playdate but an opportunity for us both to ask questions and feel comfortable. I will assess how your dog greets my dogs and their overall behavior in a new environment. I may evaluate how they respond to commands when distracted, if they seem overly excited/stimulated/anxious and how that behavior is addressed. Please know your dog: if their behavior cannot be owner-managed in a new environment, it’s unreasonable to ask a stranger to do it. Being out of their routine is stressful enough, it's our responsibility as owners to set our dogs up for success!
