Ex serving soldier - k 9 unit & dog trainer
Hi, my name is Dean. I’m an ex-serving soldier and now work full time as a dog trainer, dog walker, and dog sitter, based in Chelsea, London. I have over 30 years’ experience with both working dogs and domestic dogs. I grew up in the Lake District, Cumbria, surrounded by animals, particularly working dogs, which shaped my understanding of canine behaviour from an early age. The dogs I have personally raised and trained from puppies into successful working dogs include spaniels, terriers, Labradors, sheepdogs, and German Shepherds. In addition, I have extensive experience training clients’ domestic dogs across a wide range of breeds, including Rottweilers, Dobermans, Lagotto Romagnolo, Labradors, Spaniels, Cane Corsos, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, German Shepherds, Cockapoos, and mixed-breed dogs. I also work closely with rescue dogs, including those with difficult pasts and nervous or anxious dogs. This type of work requires a slow, patient, and sensitive approach, always tailored to the individual dog’s history and emotional needs. Dogs have always been a constant in my life, and working with such a broad range of breeds has given me a strong understanding of different temperaments, drives, and working styles. Before moving into dog training full time, I served six years in the military, spending five years as a frontline soldier, deployed on multiple operations and conflicts overseas. In my final year, I transferred to a military K-9 unit, where I trained to become a dog handler. Unfortunately, due to injury, my military career was brought to an end. Despite this, I continue to draw on the discipline, structure, calm leadership, and consistency developed during my military service in everything I do with dogs today. I now offer reliable, professional care and practical training, always tailored to each individual dog. My focus is on building confidence, balance, trust, and clear communication between dog and owner. If you’d like to know more about my services, please feel free to check out my profile and drop me a message. If you have any questions about dog training or would like to discuss your dog’s needs, don’t hesitate to get in touch. 📞 Contact: 07498 324986

Dean was amazing with Frank as always. The two of them have a great bond and we'd use Dean again, and recommend him, without question.

Would definitely recommend

Unfortunately, we had a very poor house sitting experience. We had clearly explained that our 14-week-old puppy needed regular toilet breaks and would bark in the morning when she needed to go out. Despite this, she was not taken out consistently and was instead told to be quiet, which resulted in accidents in her crate. We also provided specific instructions to clean up any waste in the shared courtyard and dispose of it in the external bins. However, when we returned, our neighbours informed us that dog waste had been left in the courtyard. In addition, there was evidence that smoking had taken place inside our home, which was not agreed. Overall, the level of care and respect for our home did not meet expectations, and we would not feel comfortable booking again.

Dean is very reliable and great at communicating. From the first meet we knew we could trust him with our pets! Would not hesitate to recommend him and book him for walks and house sits!
Dean took exceptional care of our dog, and we couldn’t be more pleased with the experience. From the outset, he was professional, calm, and clearly very knowledgeable about handling dogs of different temperaments and needs. Our dog was relaxed, well-looked after, and happy throughout which is the best indicator of the quality of care provided. Dean was attentive, responsible, and maintained excellent communication, giving us complete peace of mind while we were away. It’s rare to find someone who combines reliability with genuine care for animals, but Dean does exactly that. We would not hesitate to trust him again and highly recommend him to anyone looking for a dependable and thoughtful dog sitter.

Safety, trust & environment
At current I do not have my own pets in London as I'm currently living by myself and as I've been working a lot, I thought it was irresponsible to have one as they need a lot of attention, love and care. Whilest in Cumbria prior to London, I would feed my dogs, take them for walks, take them out running with me, house trained them, done regular health checks, visits to the vets, play with them, get them to socialise with other people and other dogs and familiarise them with farm animals due to being in the countryside and occasionally working on farms. In my 1 year with the military k-9 unit I trained theoretically and worked with trained dogs. Unfortunately I wasn't their long enough to train my own dog in the military, but have trained my own working dogs and domestic dogs as a civilian.
