I currently work part time at a pet food store and am used to interacting with dogs and cats all day. The more notice I have for visits and care, the better. Important!: I do not have a car and use public transportation. I will not transport your animal on public transit for safety reasons but am willing to walk to local parks and dog runs to exercise your animal. For emergencies I am willing to call a rideshare. If your cat is fully trained for harness/backpack trips, I am very willing to take them out! If your pup lives within a mile of a dog wash, I'm happy to bathe them for you including medicated baths. While I couldn't fully groom your baby, I can gently deshed them with my own tools if they would tolerate it.

I understand that as a caregiver to animals, that person should respect that animal's boundaries. If a pup/cat wants to cuddle and play immediately, I will happily do so. If a dog is more cautious, I will do my best to earn the trust needed at that pup's own pace. I use positive reinforcement for training keeping up your own training while gently discouraging unwanted behavior. I am patient and mindful especially for any dog/cat with disabilities. I am a quiet and low-key person which cats and shy dogs tend to appreciate but can also play and engage with high energy animals too!

Please let me know if there are any special needs or medications that need to be administered. Also please list any and all allergies, and if there are special treats or diets your animal needs to follow. I sometimes bring my own treats which I will confirm they are ok for your baby beforehand. There is no such thing as too much info to give me on your pet! Any behavioral habits you want me to reinforce or discourage, favorite places to go, hand signs (for deaf pets), training phrases, reactivity, or handling preferences (ie: cats don't like being picked up, dog hates the sound of a soda can opening, my pup likes to jaywalk). If you give me a packet on your baby, I will happily read it!
A typical day
Not every animal has the same needs so when I learn about your pet, I will tailor their day to them. If they are a high energy breed then we will play outside, do some tricks, and even do puzzle games. If your pet is low energy or a senior then we can relax, play at their speed, and if small we can go on adventures in my animal safe backpack. Or if a puppy/kitten, I will happily help socialize and build problem solving through gentle play and handling. I am more than willing to take your pet into pet-friendly stores for socializing as well including pet stores.

(he/him) What started as regularly pet sitting an incredible pup named Disco for my friend during work travel, has grown into a passion for pet care and community. I understand that training your dog is not only beneficial for the owner, but helps keep your pup safe too. Building trust and a strong relationship with your animal is an honor and there is no other love that can compare. Your dog is not just a pet, but a part of your family and they deserve to be treated as such. Just like with human kids, I would engage and talk with your pet on walks and drop-ins because they would want you to! The more you genuinely interact with a dog, the more that dog will trust you. While I specialize in cats, I love dogs to pieces and the bigger the baby, the more hugs I can deliver!

Dean is incredible! I can’t tell you how detailed and helpful, attentive and prompt Dean is! If Dean isn’t available I second guess if I should even go out of town!!
I made sure to Book Dean a few months before my scheduled vacation because Dean is hands-down, without a doubt the best cat sitter. I’ve had many cat sitters in the past and they were all very kind and I felt that my cats were safe with them but it’s different with Dean. When we come home after a long vacation, my cats feel different if they have been watched by Dean. We can tell that they were not only safe and well fed, but they felt loved. Dean brings over handmade cat toys and special treats and engages with them the entire time. We can tell just by the photos how much our cats love Dean. I’m generally a nervous person when it comes to my cats because they are my babies and when we get Rover cards from any other Rover, I immediately have nerves thinking “what if something went wrong”. With Dean, my husband and I have general excitement when we get the Rover card. We are always so excited to see what they have been up to. It’s such a blessing when you know your pets are safe with someone but it’s beyond wonderful when you know they feel loved.
Dean goes the extra mile, we love having Dean over with our pup! Dean Is the best!
