As full-time ministers, our home is our home base. One, if not both of us, are generally here. Dogs are part of our lives, taking them out often on walks and to the park. Dogs also have nearly full-time access to our 1/4 acre fenced back yard, so long as they are not digging or being destructive. They will also get occasional trips to the dog park (one with a lake and another more local with acres of room to run) for off leash play if the owner agrees and the weather allows. We are very active and often explore local hikes, etc. If you would like us to take your dog with us on these adventures, we would be happy to do so given owner guidelines.

About Dawn & Rob F.
Communication
Dog skills
Safety, trust & environment
We allow the dogs to be inside and manage their care based on the requests of the owners (to kennel or not, to allow on furniture, etc). We base our care on the preferences of the owner. Some approve of dog parks; others do not. Some like their dogs to get exercise off leash; others prohibit this. Dogs will be allowed to play outside in our fully-fenced back yard. We have been trained in canine first aid and have a first aid kit here at our home. Rob is an Eagle Scout and has been trained in backcountry safety and rescue, so your pup is in good care. When we were just starting to date my black lab took a plunge off a bridge...Rob took great care of my girl....and it was LOVE! The care of your dog is of great importance to us. Our dog (and previous dogs) are a part of our family. When raising Guide Dogs for the Blind we had extremely strict standards for the dogs and where they could be and how they needed to behave. Now that we are empty nesters we have entered the "grandparent" stage of dog ownership...most rules beyond those of courtesy and basic good behavior have gone out the window. We miss having children at home to care for so our dog (and our guest dogs) are not short on TLC. We are happy to communicate with you and send photos during your pup's stay with us. Let us know if you have any questions about our Rover services.

Information Dawn & Rob F. would like to know about your pet
Our dog, Blaze, is neutered. He loves to play. We are open to having pups but do require that all dogs are house trained, esp as we have quite an open floor plan in our home. Please no females in heat. We would be happy to set up and meet and greet before your first visit. We are happy to work with pet owners to ensure a successful and happy experience for your pups.
A typical day
We have open-space/paths within a 1/4 mile from our home. Most of the exercise the dogs get while here happens in the back yard. Most nights we take the dogs to an open field (with no adjacent roads) and throw the Chuck-It, etc. to wear them out. Some prefer we not include their dogs in this off leash activity. Your choice. Regardless, the dogs play outside with ropes, bones, Jolly balls, Jolly eggs, etc. at their leisure. We often throw the Chuck-It in the backyard to give them plenty of exercise. We have a small dog pool and water pad that we use to keep the dogs cool in the summer. Dogs will be fed based on the schedule requested by owner, generally twice daily. Unless otherwise requested, the dogs have full-time access to water.

Pet care experience
We are people people! We are pet people! We love it when those worlds collide. We were raised with multiple dogs--and guinia pigs, hamsters, rabbits--as a part of our family. When our now adult children were in high school we raised a Guide Dog for the Blind with each of them. Despite the high standards of performance expected, all 3 of our pups became working Guides. My husband and I work from home as full-time ministers, allowing us a (generally) flexible schedule. We have a large (75 pound) neutered yellow lab male named Blaze. He is ALL love and would love to have some playmates join him at our home.
Reviews

Had a lovely experience again with Dawn and Rob! Extremely prompt responses, lots of pictures, and they were very patient with our pups who tend to be shy, slow eaters!

Dawn and Rob were great in their patience with our dog, Theo, during their 5 day stay with him. They continued to engage with him and earned his trust to have a wonderful experience for him.

Rob and Dawn were awesome! Communication always great and Rylee had a good stay. Will definitely rebook with them as needed!

Dawn and Rob are just wonderful. They are incredibly patient, responsive, and clearly experienced. We did a meet-and-greet beforehand and were so impressed—their home routine and setup are very well thought out. We especially loved that the dogs had frequent access to the yard for fresh air and play. Their dog, Blaze, is such a sweetheart and got along famously with Eve. We felt completely at ease knowing Eve was in such great hands. Highly recommend them for future bookings!
