During the covid pandemic, I raised and trained my 8-week old little corgi into a loving and sweet ball of energy. Though he still has his difficult moments, I use gentle and positive reinforcement to teach him how to express his feelings and handle overstimulating situations appropriately. I am looking forward to spending quality time with him next time I travel home. I have intermittently had the pleasure of sitting friends' dogs of all sizes and energy levels, from sleepy pugs to energetic border collies. It's always a pleasure to spend time bonding with my loved ones' loved ones. On Rover I have cared for elderly dogs and reactive dogs, or dogs that require closer supervision for any number of reasons. I always enjoy getting to know a new pup and learning their personality and quirks, and just havingfun together! In the past, I have volunteered at animal shelters, working with cats ranging from tiny kittens to senior cats with chronic health conditions. One of the most important skills I learned was how to approach fearful and defensive animals, and help them feel safe and cared for. It was a very rewarding experience to watch an anxious and terrified cat transform into a loving lap kitty, and eventually find a forever home.
