Everyone has different things they like to do to ensure dog safety, and no 2 dogs are the same. Because of this I will always do what the owner says is best for safety, unless they would like my input. I use my knowledge of dog behavior to make sure dogs are as comfortable as they can be.

Let me know if your dog has any special needs, or if you would like to work on certain behaviors. I like to get to know each dog so they can be set up to succeed with each walk and never feel uncomfortable or scared.
A typical day
I like to have dogs learn how to tell the difference between exersize time and when they get to sniff around. Scents stimulate dogs brains a lot so I encourage them to take in the smells when appropriate. I also like to teach them to focusing on me even with other distractions around.

I was a local dog trainer and walker in Salida, CO for over a year. I was mentored by Laura Bussing(20+ years training experience) for 2 years. I specialize in reactive dogs and puppies, I have completed 2 Karen Pryor Dog Training classes, including Puppy Preschool. As well as attended a seminar taught by Cameron Ford teaching dognition with an emphasis on Search and Rescue. I've helped train 2 mobility support service dogs, and multiple other dogs in high school. I want to focus on teaching reactive dogs how to walk on a leash and be confident in the world. As well as helping puppies get good foundations so they won't be reactive. Obedience is also a focus because it's essential to a peaceful home. Everyday deserves to live a happy life and be comfortable in the world.

We were needing someone to watch our two dogs while visiting the area, and I had very specific criteria for them. Dawn had excellent communication with us throughout the process of scheduling and showed up on time and did everything we wanted. She gave us peace of mind while we were gone for the day and our usually "stranger danger" dogs did great with her. Thank you for staying with our pups Dawn! You rock!
Dawn was great! She came to our Airbnb the evening before walking our pup to meet us and him and make sure he was comfortable with her. We were so happy to know he was taken care of while we were exploring!
