I’ve lived with animals my whole life (dogs, cats and even rats), so caring for pets has always been a natural part of who I am. I have a particular soft spot for senior dogs and experience caring for dogs with special needs. My husband didn’t grow up with pets but he quickly fell in love with our dog and is now a fully converted dog lover! Our own dog is very calm and loves other dogs. She can, however, be anxious when separated from us so we know first-hand how stressful it can be to find the right sitter. So we’ve learned a lot about how to soothe dogs with separation anxiety, create a sense of safety, and help them settle into a new environment. I’m a psychotherapist and my husband and I both work from home, so dogs are never left alone. We’re very attuned to emotions and behaviour (both human and canine), and we’re good at noticing when a dog needs reassurance, space, play, or quiet. We also have a 15-year-old daughter who adores dogs and is great at engaging them in play (especially dogs who enjoy games and play-fighting). So younger, more active dogs won’t be bored, but she also knows when a dog needs peace and quiet to decompress. Between the three of us, your dog will get plenty of attention, affection, supervision and companionship, just like part of the family.
