Happy & clean home, more fur please

My goal is always health and happiness for both myself and those around me including furry friends. I’ve got a soft spot for senior dogs and puppies as both of those tend to need the most care to feel safe when apart from their parents. I’m near-fluent in cat-lingo and, given a day or 3, can usually make friends with even the most claw-prone feral.

David went above and beyond in his care for our dog Juni during his time house and dog-sitting for us! We would LOVE to have him watch Juni again! He sent us numerous updates (including videos and photos) throughout each day, followed our instructions re: allergies/medication/etc. perfectly, was punctual and extremely knowledgeable about dog psychology and training. David managed to get Juni to walk farther with him than even my partner and I can (Juni is noise-sensitive and tends to want to turn back early). He never left Juni alone for more than a couple of hours (which is well under what we had said would be fine!). We came home to a very happy, tired, and relaxed dog and a spotless house. Thank you so much for the peace you have given us, David!

David was so wonderful to Luna while we were traveling. We really appreciate the care and attention he gave her. We also really appreciate how he went above and beyond when we totally messed up and forgot to leave a key for him.

David was a great communicator and was easy to work with! He took Meatball on a great exploration of Seattle. Thanks David!

David was an amazing dog sitter for Walter! He was incredibly attentive and sent lots of updates, which gave us total peace of mind. Walter was clearly well cared for and happy. Walter has a lot of anxiety, and David was really in tune with his behavior which I really appreciated!

Grateful to have found a trusted sitter in David! My boyfriend and I unexpectedly had trips overlap out of town and I was relieved David was available to watch our 3 pets - including our new puppy. He goes above and beyond and it's very appreciated!

David is always incredible with our dogs. There is literally nobody I trust more to care for our two pups while we are away. He is very knowledgeable on animal behaviors and can handle more difficult pets, I always know if an emergency situation were to happen, he could handle it with the care it deserves. He sends incredibly detailed updates and videos so you’re always assured your animals are taken care of. You won’t regret booking david to watch your pups.

Schedule

I've owned and lived with all manner of animals including rabbits, parrots, cats, lizards, fish, a rat, and of course dogs. As a kid I had a pet snake for a few hours, but it didn’t go over so well with my parents haha. In my retirement years I’ll probably go full-on Wild Kingdom.

Where your pet will stay

Lives in an apartment
Has an unfenced yard
Non-smoking household
Has 1 dog
No children present
Dogs not allowed on bed
Dogs not allowed on furniture
Potty breaks every 2-4 hours

Safety, trust & environment

I currently have a lot of free time. Pet sitting is a great way to spend my energy. My girl works from our home 2-3 days a week as additional pet support.

Pets

A typical day

We start mornings off usually around 7-8am. Depending on the routines of our visiting dogs, we usually encourage dogs to drink water and then take them out to potty. This is followed by a play session, walk with lots of sniffing opportunities, or visit to one of the nearby parks. Dog parks are an option too if you approve. Next is breakfast followed by an hour or two of downtime to let their stomachs settle. Depending on your fur kid’s temperament, age, breed, etc we usually engage in more exercise/play/training ending with a calming routine where dogs chew on something age/size appropriate to relax. For dogs that want or need a less active routine we keep it mellow with lots of cuddling or massage. Then it is off to bed for naptime and we repeat a variation of this schedule in the afternoon/evening. Puppies usually get extra playtime, senior dogs are typically more discerning about what they do/don't want, and ALL pets get tons of massage, cuddles, and attention unless they're the rarity who likes being left alone. New environments can be stressful for animals, we try to minimize that by giving them whatever it is that they need (and hopefully a good measure of what they want, too).

David can host up to 2 pets per night
If watching pets in your home, I am capable with almost any size, breed, and temperament. This is the ideal scenario and is recommended. We do offer boarding in our home as an alternative, and are quite proficient if that is your preference. Our townhome and routines allow for dogs of all ages up to a maximum of roughly 60 lbs. Unfortunately Rover doesn't provide a lot of granularity in this area, and groups 41 lbs puppies with 99 pound dogs capable of pulling a sled. With that in mind, I love big dogs, but will have to decline nearly all *boarding* requests in our apartment for dogs over approximately 60 lbs, 65 max. (Again, if dog/housesitting at your place, any size is A-ok). Prior to taking care of your pets, please inform me of any medications or special needs for keeping them happy and safe. Ditto for any triggers, dogs prone to potty/vomiting in the house, marking behavior, cats that like to claw humans or furniture (an occupational hazard haha, I just like to be aware beforehand), etc. None of the above necessarily exclude me from taking care of your pets. This info enables me to better mesh with their individual personalities . For example, I'm used to puppies and potty accidents (I always have a mop at the ready for our wood floors and protection mats for our rug). The occasional accident is okay! On the other hand, **if I'm left unaware** and a pet begins tearing up my home, shows almost zero signs of potty-training, or something similar, I may have to add additional charges. Luckily that hasn't happened yet even with one puppy who spent weeks in my home peeing all over the place (at least it was pee not poo and always on our hard floors/tile and not rug/couch/etc).
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
