Pet care experience
Big yard; No other dogs; Great care
We are a couple living on the Saanich peninsula. Both of us lead active lives and enjoy hiking, backcountry camping, and cycling. We are both settled in our careers and have been responsible dog owners for 15+ years but are currently dogless and ready to welcome your best friend into our growing extended family. Just think of us as your best friend's best friends. Like most dog owners we feed and walk twice a day, and we're comfortable with oral and topical medications. They'll have access to a spacious, fully fenced backyard throughout the day. In the evening your dog will go for a long hike or jog. On weekends we regularly go for longer hikes to nearby mountains and parks. We only accept dogs from one family at a time, but will take up to 3. Anxious and reactive dogs are welcome, and so are intact males and females. Your dog's safety is our #1 priority. We provide individualized conscientious care, and near constant supervision.

My dogs are both so well taken care by David and Karen. We get pictures of their walks as well as down time. I always feel happy as I have no concerns at all. Highly recommend and worth the drive to Sooke.
David and Karen have looked after Baloo several times. He loves to go there and gets lots of attention, hikes and company. We always know he’s well taken care of!
Simply amazing and flawless care. We have two very different aged dogs. One a puppy and the other a senior dog. They both come back so happy and seriously can’t wait go to David and Karen’s again. We are fortunate to have found them.

David and Karen were great hosts to my boy Zeus while I was away on vacation. Sent me lots of pics and I felt at ease while travelling knowing Zeus was in good hands ! Would definitely rebook with them, they are awesome !

Schedule
Karen and I both work full-time, but we split our schedule between office and home. I for one spend most of my full-time work schedule working right here on the farm.
Where your pet will stay
Home characteristics
Safety, trust & environment
Your dog is kept in our house, with us. If we leave, we generally will take your dog with us or leave them with the run of the house. We don't have kennels or pens. We have fenced yard, but will not generally leave the dogs there unsupervised.
A typical day
On any given day, your dog will be treated to enough exercise to ensure good behavior. Depending on your dog's energy level, they will follow us around as we work on the farm throughout the day, go for a 5km rural walk or jog each evening (thank you to all my little running partners, can't do it without you) and play fetch in the nearby field. We also have puzzles and toys for indoor fun :)
