Safety, trust & environment

For the safety of all dogs in my care, all dogs are fed separately from each other to minimize any issues with food jealously or food aggression. Over the last 25 years, I have cared for many breads of dog in my own house, clients' houses and farms in the US, UK, France, and the Chezc Republic. From a 4ft tall, 1 year old Irish Wolfhound with separation anxiety; to a 180lb, post-operative, Great Pyrenees working farm dog who had to wear a cone; to providing palliative care for a 14-year-old, geriatric, terminally ill pug; and house-sitting a client's 14 Chihuahuas. Every dog has it's own temperament and needs which I am constantly observing. I can and do refocus a dog's negative behavior as soon possible. However, I also reserve the right to cancel the remainder of any dog's stay with us, if your dog shows signs of unmanageable aggression towards myself or any other animal in my care (in 25 years, this has only been necessary twice).

Information David G. would like to know about your pet

Please provide as much information on Rover as possible. At minimum, I need to know your dogs:; Breed, sex, age, neutered/spayed, last vaccine dates, last flea/tick preventative, food allergies, and medication requirements. Additionally, please let us know if your dog has been boarded in someone else's house before, if they have ever shown aggression or food aggression to any other dog.

A typical day

Mornings start with supervised peepoop time in the yard. If your dog is fed in the morning, they will be separated from the pack and fed (with clean water always available). If your dog is used to being walked in the morning, we will ALL go for a walk (no client dog is ever left unsupervised). A short distance with time to sniff many new smells, has been shown to be considerably more stimulating and exciting for a dog than a long drag around the block. The walk is for the dog's benefit, not the human's, we sniff, we do not drag. We are happy to walk your dog on a route that you prescribe, on their favorite walk, or anywhere you suggest; e.g. that park on the corner that you always want to take them to but never find the time. :) During the day, your dog has the opportunity to play inside with my dogs, nap on the floor or sofa or in their crate, chew on many available toys (their own or ours) and will have continuous opportunity to go out into the yard and do zoomies until they are exhausted and happy (outside zoomie time is always supervised) We will also play your dogs' favorite games with their favorite toy. And yes, we WILL throw the ball again. And again. And again. ... :)

Caring for dogs since 1999

Pet care experience

David has been looking after dogs for over 25 years, providing the highest standard of safety and happiness for our best friends. Between 2015 and 2019, David boarded many happy, healthy dogs in his own home in North Carolina; providing walking, bathing, training and home-stays through Rover.com. Now in Tennessee and, with over 80 5-Star reviews, David is able to provide the same outstanding care for your dogs as he did for many repeat clients in NC. Working full time from home, David provides; daily play, walking, socializing, medication and exercise for pooches in his home with a fully fenced-in back yard. David also provides over-night and long term stay service - this can also be in your own home so your dog never needs to suffer the anxiety of staying away from their comfort zone. Even if you have multiple dogs, David is able to quickly and safely establish himself as the new pack leader and is conscious to give each of your pets one-on-one attention to maintain a well socialized, playful pack. DAVID'S COMMITMENT TO YOU AND YOUR PETS. --I provide a fun, friendly, healthy and safe time for all dogs, allowing you to spend worry-free time away from your best friend. --I will send you multiple photographs and updates while your pet is with us. --I will always be available to you by phone while looking after your dog. --I treat all dogs with the same care, attention and affection as if it were my own pup. --Your dog will ALWAYS be walked on the lead or harness that you supply. Your dog will NEVER leave our house without being on a lead. If you do not have a lead, we will use one of ours. This is not negotiable. --Your special pup WILL ONLY get dog treats that have been approved by you first (dogs have food allergies too.) --I NEVER give dogs human food. EVER. Non-negotiable. -- I will NEVER leave your dogs outside unsupervised. Our large fenced back yard has anti-dig panels throughout; however, for the pack's safety and security, all dogs are continuously supervised and interacted with IN PERSON while at play outside (no lazy security-cam monitoring here). --We will only take your dog to a dog park if you specifically request this service (there may be an additional charge for this) David is also an experienced farm sitter and has learned a lot about dogs from feeding and interacting with goats, pigs, sheep, cows, horses, chickens and ducks - and, on one occasion, a very grumpy llama.

Fantastic experience with David from start to finish. I would highly recommend him to friends and family, and I’m pretty picky when it comes to who cares for our dogs so I don’t say that lightly!
