I care for your pets in your home the same way I care for mine in my home. First by observing and understanding their surroundings like fenced in yards, baby gates, kennels, etc.. all the things intended to keep your loved one safe. Second, I make sure I understand any special needs that your pet has whether it is a behavioral issue related to fear or anxiety, or your pet is elderly and needs a little extra help or monitoring. 3rd and finally with the same amount of respect i show my own. our pets are our family and I will always treat them as such.

Information David "Dak" R. would like to know about your pet

I have spent the last 5 years focusing on the science of animal behavior. It is not too much of a secret that alot of this means identifying fears and anxieties while finding an approach that works best for your pet. In order to provide the best care possible, I need the most honest and accurate information possible. I do not believe that dogs react just because they are "bad" or "aggressive", in my experience they usually react due to some sort of fear or anxiety. Basically the more information you are able to give me about your pet, the better I am able to help them!

A typical day

This will drastically change depending on your dog and the things they enjoy! My goal is to bring stimuli to an otherwise boring day. If you have a dog that needs exercises and mental challenging I will tailor my approach for them. That being said, if you have an elderly dog who needs support, monitoring, and someone's lap to lay in for an episode of stranger things... I am your guy!

Pet care experience

My name is David, however I go by Dak. I am very much a dog person, much more so than a people person! My most recent experience in animal care was at Harbor Point Animal Hospital (5.5yrs) I was a Fear Free ELITE certified veterinary assistant, specializing in animals who needed a little extra care or attention. I spent a lot of time studying animal behavior and ways to alleviate stress and anxiety so I am well equipped if you pet has some anxiety. I am also well versed in medication admin, fluids, and elderly pet care/vital monitoring. Studies show that even a short 10 min relief from a boring day while you are at work, reduces the stress, anxiety, and the possibility for behavioral/destructive outbursts. I cant wait to take time to get to know you furry family member(s) and help them get some attention they need while you are working hard to provide, or need an extra hand during a busy week!

If you’re thinking about booking Dak on Rover—do it! I can’t say enough good things about him. He’s the kind of person you instantly trust with your pets, and more importantly, your pets trust him too. Dak is super reliable and he treats every animal like it’s his own. He’s especially amazing with nervous or shy pets. I’ve seen him sit quietly for ages just to let a skittish dog or cat come to him on their own terms. He’s so patient, and animals can feel how genuine he is. You’ll feel 100% at ease knowing your furry family member is with someone who truly cares.
