David runs a doggy heaven - with lots of frisky, energetic pups on hand to keep your pet delighted. You’ll pick up your bestie exhausted and woofing to return.

Jameson (Great Dane) loves staying with David! David has his own dog, Magus, and is always boarding other dogs as well, so it's really like a vacation for my social pup! David was flexible with pickup times when we decided it would be easier for us to pick Jameson up the next morning instead of late at night. We could tell from the pictures (and the fact that Jameson was exhausted upon his return home) ...

Good guy, came through for us in a pinch. Ziggy also came home happy, sleepy and hungry. Always a sign he had lots and lots of fun!

Nature's OmniUnum Farm.

Although I have resided in RI, GA, FL, NJ, NYC and Namibia, I am a Michigander with roots in Ann Arbor since 1961, who is now ensconced 24/7 in development of 6.75 partially wooded acres of beyond organic gardens providing all-natural vegetables and fruits on a zoned agricultural parcel in Northfield Township (North of Ann Arbor, South of Whitmore Lake and East of Dexter) between Joy and Northfield Church Roads.

What David would like to know about your dog

Although Magus has often been referred to as "The Rodney King of Dogs" ("Can't we all just get along!?!"), we do not approve any aggressive, loud behaviors. While "purse dogs" NOT prone to yipping and/or ankle biting are welcomed, more sociable dogs greater than 5 lbs are preferred guests. Older dogs are especially cherished. ANY history of biting of ANY kind must be divulged prior to agreement on terms for a visit. Similarly, indoor marking behaviors simply cannot be allowed.

Whereas enthusiasm is welcomed and encouraged and occasional "unmannerliness" is permitted, constant barking, reckless roughhousing and/or viciousness are intolerable. While avoidance of such disturbances is preferred, inability to curtail noxious interference with other animals is treated appropriately with quiet and safe but SOLITARY confinement with nurturing human support but sequestered AWAY FROM other animals also deserving peace.

A primary intent in opening and sharing this particular property with dogs is to create a welcoming environment supportive of a canine community of animals that not only get along but look forward to being here both individually and collectively. To that end, special consideration in booking any guests is focused upon group dynamics and potential behaviors that could affect significantly any visitor's enjoyment of their time, here. Consequently, proven positive experience from previous accommodations shared with Magus and others here is the factor weighted most heavily in booking decisions.

When David watches your pet

When my father passed, I was just nine years old, so Blondie, a toy cocker spaniel became my closest friend and confidant until her death 15 years later. It's quite fair to conclude the understanding, patience, trust, sincere friendship and love she gave has influenced my appreciation for and interactions with all living things.

"Man's best friend" doesn't even come close to describing all dogs' capacities for pure joy, unselfish loyalty and affection. I have enjoyed such privileged interactions with many canine companions over the years, but my understanding and appreciation of them has been enhanced through research results reported by others more expert, including: Elizabeth Marshall Thomas ("The Hidden Life of Dogs"), Jeffrey Moussaieff Masson ("Dogs Never Lie About Love: Reflections on the Emotional World of Dogs") and Kevin Behan ("Your Dog Is Your Mirror: The Emotional Capacity of Our Dogs and Ourselves").

While continuously attempting to learn from our canine companions on this Planet, I endeavor to honor them with my best efforts to appreciate and reciprocate all that they give. To paraphrase: I would truly like to become the man my dog believes me to be. Listening, acceptance, and flexibility are key. (Wouldn't it be wonderful to live long enough to witness all humanity embrace in the same fashion?)
