I’m not working and home full time, and my wife works from home, so she’s here as well. I spend a lot of time outdoors with Joey, our Aussie, either playing in the fenced backyard, doing yard work while he supervises, or going on long walks in our quite neighborhood. Joey is basically my full time side kick, or maybe I’m his! He and I love having friends join our routine!

We are the last house on a cul de sac in a very quiet neighborhood. We have a very large fenced back yard and a pet friendly house. From the fenced yard , you enter our house through the garage, which makes it very easy to transition happy muddy dogs into the house! Areas of the house in which we don’t allow Joey are fenced off with gates, including our bedroom. Joey generally sleeps in his crate located in our bedroom . We would prefer crate trained guests, but can make arrangements if that is not your situation. We have somehow accumulated multiple crates over the years, so there is no need to travel with your own.

Information David & April P. would like to know about your pet
Joey is great with other dogs, and makes friends fast. He does do better with other high energy and confident dogs, as he likes to play hard and this sometimes intimidates more timid dogs. We do allow Joey on the couch and the outside furniture, but he sleeps in his own crate at night. If your dog doesn’t sleep in a crate, we can talk and work something out.
A typical day
Joey and I typically start the day with a long leashed walk in our wooded and quiet neighborhood, that some days ends up at a little creek down the dirt road. We’ll spend the cooler parts of the summer days doing yard work and playing outside, but the hot afternoons Joey spends napping while I do inside chores. In the evenings, we’re back outside for some serious ball chasing! TV time on the couch is an important part of the day. We always end up with one last potty break for Joey while I put the chickens up for the night!

Pet care experience
Dogs have been part of our relationship since before my wife and I were married. With very few breaks, we’ve always had dogs as part of our family, and we like to say that our first dog Charlie helped us raise our children! Our current home is ideal for taking care of not only our Joey, but also others, as we have a very large fenced in backyard, and are at the end of an extremely quiet neighborhood that is great for long walks.
Reviews

David and April took great care of Ginger. They provided a wonderful safe environment, plus their pup, Joe, was a nice companion. It was so nice to go on a trip and know that our pup was well taken care of!

David was so understanding and great with my dog! We had not done this before, so it was a perfect first time Rover experience. My travel involved a good bit of change and David was quite flexible and patient. But mostly I appreciate how he cared for Lulu. She and his dog hit it off really well. Dave sent pictures now and then to update me! It was easy to see she was relaxed and happy. They have a wonderful yard and play area for dogs, too. Overall such a positive experience -peace of mind for me- for us both! I will be calling them again in 2026!

David and April were excellent! We are so grateful to them + Joe for being so flexible & taking such good care of Winston!

David & April were incredible, chevy was having a very difficult trip and they did everything they could to make him feel at home and comfortable, and he didn't make it easy. 10/10 would rebook very thankful we chose you!!
