Information Dave T. would like to know about your pet

Leroy and I love playing with all types of large and small dogs as long as they're friendly. Leroy can be very playful and excitable but he's good at taking cues and will usually back off if the other dog tells him to. He's never started a fight but gets a bit anxious around aggressive dogs so I will require a meeting on neutral turf before agreeing to socialize him with any dog who has a history of violence or aggression.

A typical day

We have a pool and lots of fun toys to play with at my house. My dog Leroy loves to play with other dogs and will show them all the best places to see critters and sniff smells around the Shadow Mountain and Lookout Mountain neighborhoods and preserves. We also make frequent trips to Paradise Valley Park, which has a great dog park for socializing and playing fetch.

Pet care experience

I've been caring for animals all my life and have provided life-long care to a variety of large and small dogs, cats, small and medium mammals, reptiles, amphibians and even insects. I love dogs the most, but I'm comfortable caring for all types of domestic and exotic pets in my home or yours. My wife and I currently care for one dog, three cats and over a dozen small caged animals (contained in rooms of our house that can be made inaccessible to dogs) but we always have room for more! My favorite thing about dogs is their emotional intuition and empathy. Dogs understand when something is wrong in your heart, even if they can't understand what it is. When I care for a dog, I attempt to show them a fraction of that empathy, I just want to give back to them! I'll treat your dog like they are my very own. My dog Leroy is very friendly and loves all animals, he's totally non-aggressive but he sometimes gets a little too excited and needs to be put in time-out to cool off before resuming play. My cats are indifferent to pretty much all other forms of life and will usually hide from unfamiliar animals. All pets are up to date on their shots. As long as your pet isn't actively aggressive they should get along fine. I'm comfortable taking a dog that is aggressive toward other animals on a walk, or visiting them in their home, but I will not board a dog that hasn't had its shots or may hurt my pets. My home has tile floors and I have a large back yard with a pool and plenty of shade. The porch is fully enclosed with a gate that can be used as an extra large dog crate with water and comfortable furniture, if dogs need to be separated or contained for any reason. I live in a quiet neighborhood with several nearby parks, including Shadow Mountain preserve, which is within walking distance of my house and is great place to see rabbits and birds. Leroy and I always go for at least one mile-long walk per day, although we can split that up into several shorter walks to accommodate dogs that can't walk that far at a time and are willing to stay out for up to two hours at a time for dogs that have a lot of energy to blow off. I'm willing to make any other reasonable accommodation that your pet requires. I'm experienced in providing the special care that senior dogs and young puppies need. I don't mind cleaning up messes or giving medicine or providing constant attention to animals that need it. I'm also experienced providing emergency care to sick and injured animals, should the need arise.

Our elderly cat is a jerk and did her best to make Dave's drop in visits unpleasant, he took all of her antics in stride. Dave is a great sitter, genuinely cares about animals, and provides detailed updates during his visits. Highly recommend!
