Safety, trust & environment

I don’t offer boarding since I have three dogs of my own, but I’m happy to care for your pets in their home where they’re most comfortable. I’m experienced with crate training, giving medication, and adjusting to different routines. I always respect your space and your pet’s needs, and I’m happy to follow any specific instructions you leave.

Information Darlene V. would like to know about your pet

Let me know if your dog has any special needs, medical conditions, or behavior quirks I should know about, I want to make sure they feel safe and supported. I’m comfortable with crate routines, meds, and handling reactivity. Every dog is different, and I’m happy to adjust to what works best for yours.

A typical day

I focus on enrichment and engagement tailored to your dog’s energy level and personality. For high-energy dogs, I love using sniff games (like hiding a ball in cushions), tug-of-war, frozen treats, or lick mats to keep them mentally stimulated. I also incorporate light reinforcement training of tricks your dog already knows. Walks, fetch, and playtime are always adjusted to their age, breed, and needs, whether they’re high-energy or just want a calm day.

Loving Pet Care from a Vet Student

Pet care experience

I’m a vet student at CSU with prior veterinary assistant experience. I’ve cared for dogs of all ages, from puppies still learning potty training to seniors with medical needs, and I have experience with dogs who struggle with reactivity. I’m comfortable managing multi-dog homes, crate training, and special handling, like how I lift my dachshund carefully to protect his back. I also have experience with cats that have diabetes and asthma. I have three dogs of my own and stay active through walking, hiking, and swimming. Whether it’s medication, behavior, or routine care, I meet animals where they are and keep things calm and consistent.

Darlene took great care of my high energy, anxiety prone dog while I was out of the country for two weeks. If she can handle my not-so-little bundle of fun I’m sure she can handle yours!
