I make your pet(s) a priority in my schedule between the hours of 7am and 9pm 7 days a week. Are your pets up to date on their rabies shot? Does your pet have any fears or habits I should know about? Temperament? What are your expectations of me?
A typical day
I love to throw a ball or stick for those dogs who enjoy it or just give belly rubs and kisses to those couch potatoes. I will be bringing treat dispensing balls in the near future for mental stimulation to alleviate boredom and anxiety. For kitties I can use toys or laser pointer provided by the family, give butt and chin scratches if desired, or simply sit close to a shy kitty until they get used to me (this could take several visits depending on the kitty). My experience administering medication: I have administered both oral and inject-able medication including insulin. I have given subQ fluids to an elderly kitty as well as having changed diapers and expressed bowls on a paralyzed cat. I would just need to review how to administer some medications.

Treating your furbaby like family
Pet care experience
Hello, I'm Darlene and I love all animals. I'm a Colorado Springs native and certified Veterinary Assistant. I am also certified by the Red Cross for pet first aid and CPR. I have grown up around dogs and other animals including horses and cats. I have prior experience working in a boarding kennel, running a pet food bank, some training experience, pet body language experience, and have experience handling all sorts of dogs and cats; from a puppy or kitten, to special needs, to senior. I have owned a teacup poodle all the way up to a Great Dane, so size doesn't bother me. I strive to make you and your furbabies comfortable in your home. My goal is for you to have peace of mind about your pet(s) whether you're at work, out of town, or just wanting companionship for them. I will gladly dog and cat sit, while also having experience caring for birds as well as small animals like ferrets, rodents, and reptiles. I can also horse and farm sit if needed as I have experience caring for and feeding horses, chickens, ducks, and goats, so please contact me for more info including custom rates. Excellent furbaby care, customer service, and value are priorities in my life and business. I consider professional pet care a lifestyle and go out of my way of learning more about pets and how to care for them. I'm unable to provide 24/7 supervision. Please let me know your desired time while booking and we can discuss any flexibility during the meet and greet. I prefer written instructions are left by the client so I may follow those to a tee. I let the dogs out for a potty break, play with them, watch TV with the coach potatoes, and/or offer pets and scratches. For cats, I'm willing to clean litter boxes, play or offer companionship, feed, and give fresh water to them. Note: I have experience changing diapers, caring for paralyzed and blind cats, giving subQ fluids, insulin shots, expressing bladders, and learn quickly if you have a special needs pet. As a Veterinary Assistant I have a great deal of patience and compassion for your fur babies and understand how important they are, so I go out of my way to handle them with care.
Reviews

Darlene was amazing. I’m a petsitter myself and she was as detailed as I am with the fur babies I look after. She is very detailed and sends great visit notes!

She’s been amazing. The girls love her and with working in Denver getting home late she’s been incredible with working with me to make sure my dogs get love and time to play! Always my first choice

Darlene was great with our hound!

Made sure to send pictures and followed all preferences. Thank you so much for the last min holiday booking
