Mature Animal Lover

My whole life I’ve always had a dog, cat or both. Fast forward to current I have owned dogs, cats, birds, rabbits, guinea pigs, a tortoise and koi. Sounds crazy, I know, but like myself, my girls were avid animal lovers. I have worked and volunteered for many rescues including wildlife. In the past 17 years I have fostered over 350 dogs, a handful of squirrels and 10 opossums. We’ve had puppies, seniors, blind, deaf, terminally ill and everything in between.

Drop-In Visits • Aug 16, 2022

Met Darla for the first time over Rover.com, but right off the bat, she seemed very responsible and dog loving that I had no doubt she’d take good care of our boys. She helped us on Drop In service twice a day to feed the dogs, give injections to one of them who is diabetic, and minor spot cleanings. She was very punctual and provided updates with photos in a timely manner throughout the entire 4 days we were gone. Overall she did an excellent job and would certainly recommend to other neighbors around for any petsitting needs. Thanks again, Darla!!!

I met Darla when she took on Fostering a Great Pyrenees for a local rescue I volunteer with. During the 8 months we worked together, I saw first hand how well she works with large breeds and Guardian breed dogs. Many people can be very intimidated by the size of a dog. Darla is NOT! She is knowledgeable, confident and caring. She is always easy to communicate with and very responsible. I trust my own pup with her any day of the week!

I have known Darla over a decade volunteering for various large breed and medical need dog rescues. We have coordinated care, transport, fostering, evaluating shelter dogs, and veterinary visits. Darla has cared for special needs, puppies, seniors, and breeds that are for experienced people only. She has always given the best care and used pragmatic yet compassionate choices to provide a loving, fun yet safe environment. Any pet owner would be lucky to have Darla help them.

Safety, trust & environment

Currently I have a rescue cat and a tortoise. I understand how difficult it is to find a person to watch your beloved fur babies as I have the same issue when I can’t take mine with me. I am also aware of the different needs that different pets and pet parents have. I will continue any training/behavior,special procedures/schedules that you currently use in your home or out walking with your dog. I know how important it is to know your fur babies are safe and cared for so I will send updates and pictures even videos as often as you would like.

Pets

A typical day

I would love to hear all your input on what your animal enjoys and likes to do, as well as there normal routine as far as walks or just playing catch in the yard. It helps to keep them on their regular schedule as well as things/places they are used to. So whether we are out walking the neighborhood or staying at home playing or just being cuddled your fur babies will be treated as if they were my own.
