House Sitting • Jun 26, 2026

Daria was a pleasure to work with and Mocha has a lot of fun with her! He’s an energetic dog with some anxious tendencies and she handled him well and was very communicative throughout the entire sitting. Will book again!

Daria was a new sitter for me. She was very easy to coordinate with and always extremely responsive. We had an initial meet and greet about two days before I dropped off my dog. She did a great job. I absolutely would use her again. Highly recommended.

TL;DR: Daria ignored explicitly stated care instructions (left our severely anxious dog alone), provided minimal communication, then blamed us and asked us to pay for minor damage. Situation escalated to Rover Trust & Safety and we had to find a new sitter. Would strongly recommend avoiding. ⸻ My wife and I booked Daria last minute to watch our 12 lb shih tzu/maltese while we traveled. She was initially kind and accommodating, even offering a meet-and-greet (which we unfortunately didn’t have time for). Before drop-off, she provided an address that differed from her Rover profile. Given past experiences, we asked to briefly see the home upon arrival, which she allowed this without issue. We reviewed all care instructions again in person. Most importantly, in our very first message to her before booking, we explicitly stated, verbatim, that JJ “has severe separation anxiety” and “has to be with someone at all times.” This was not mentioned casually or later on. It was a clear and upfront requirement from the beginning. After leaving, communication became an immediate concern. We did not receive a single proactive update. Every message or photo required us to reach out first. At one point, we went three full days without any information about our dog. The first red flag during the stay was JJ urinating on his own bed, something he has never done before. This is not typical behavior for a house-trained dog and suggested something was wrong. The situation escalated when Daria informed us that JJ had scratched her front door. After asking for details, she admitted this happened because she left him alone for “like 40 minutes,” despite the very clear instruction that he could not be left alone. Rather than acknowledging this, she shifted responsibility to us, stating we “should have told her he might scratch the door” and that she would have “protected it.” She then asked us to pay for minor cosmetic damage (small paint chips) and suggested we find another sitter mid-stay. She also initially offered to drop him off elsewhere. At this point, we involved Rover’s Trust & Safety team. During that process, Daria reversed her offer to drop him off, which made an already stressful situation significantly more difficult to resolve. Ultimately, we had to rely on a personal favor from a friend to pick JJ up and care for him for the remainder of our trip. Looking back, there were multiple red flags: incorrect address, lack of communication, disregard for clearly stated care needs, and deflection of responsibility. While we appreciate her initial willingness to help on short notice, we cannot recommend her as a sitter for dogs with special care instructions and would strongly advise others to avoid booking with her. 2/5 rating because Daria was initially accommodating, allowed us to see her home at drop-off, and JJ was ultimately safe when picked up.

Daria was so amazing with our pup and cat! She went out of her way to get a scratching post when we forgot one. Definitely recommend 😊

Daria sent us a photo and update to let us know our dog was happy and settled and with her. She also was prompt in her communication and responses. I recommend her for your furry friends and will be using her again when we stay in her area.
