Pet care experience

My Therapy Has Fur!

Dogs have been part of my life for as long as I can remember! From snow days and trampoline adventures with my dog Bear to life with my two loyal Rhodesian Ridgebacks, animals have always been my happy place. These days, our sweet rescue Stella keeps life calm and cozy, and I still find that animals naturally seem to trust and connect with me. I’ve even taken obedience training classes because I genuinely love learning more about dog behavior and communication. I’m comfortable with energetic pups, gentle seniors, big dogs, little dogs, and yes — cats too (even if we can’t have them at home because of allergies). My goal is always to make pets feel safe, loved, comfortable, and cared for while you’re away.

Darbi and Nate were great! We had a few schedule changes post-booking and they were so flexible and accommodating. They took Finny in and just loved on him so much! Sent updates and pictures which was great! In fact…we’re convinced that the poor dog is mad we brought him home 😂 Highly recommend!!

Darbi is an excellent pet sitter. I’ve known her for years, both as a friend and as a devoted pet owner. She is knowledgeable about animal care, attentive to pets’ individual needs, and truly cares about their well-being. Darbi is energetic and engaging while also being dependable, kind, and professional. You can feel confident that your pet will be safe, comfortable, well cared for, and happy while you’re away.

Darbi is so very attentive. She loves her dogs as her children, a balance of healthy boundaries for safety and a great amount of space for play and exploration. If the dog needs pets, she's right there. If the dog has a quirky personality and needs to eat his food outside of the bowl, there the kibble goes -no questions asked. If the dog needs to bark at the thunder because he has been traumatized, Darbi understands. I trust Darbi with my Bo and love the pictures she sends. I highly recommend Darbi.

Darbi is great with dogs. She will play with your pet, love on them and give them lots of snuggles. She’s very detail oriented so she would also be able to help with dogs that need extra special care.

Schedule

Pet care fits naturally into our family’s daily routine. I’m a teacher, so I’m home during summers and school breaks, including two weeks each in fall, winter, and spring. My work schedule when teaching allows me to stop by home during lunch to check in on pets and I’m home by 3:30 PM leaving the evening open for playtime and companionship. Our two boys (13 and 15) also love animals and are learning responsibility by helping care for pets alongside me — giving extra love, playtime, walks, and attention. As a family, we’re able to comfortably provide care in our home or stop by for feedings, walks, check-ins, and play visits throughout the day. During the school year, I’m available before 7:00 AM and after 3:30 PM.

Safety, trust & environment

I care for pets like they’re part of the family! I love greeting them with excitement, giving them attention, playtime, cuddles, and making sure they feel comfortable and loved while you’re away. I enjoy taking dogs on walks or runs, playing fetch, and honestly love when they get the zoomies and show their personalities. Safety is always a priority. In our home, pets are supervised and can be safely crated or given their own quiet room if needed for rest, comfort, or separation. We have a fully fenced yard for outdoor play and a dog door so pets can move in and out comfortably throughout the day. We do have a pool that is not fenced, so I make sure dogs are monitored outside and will always follow the owner’s instructions regarding outdoor access and supervision. Whether caring for pets in my home or yours, my goal is to make them feel safe, happy, exercised, and loved.

Pets

A typical day

I love playing with animals on the floor, throwing balls and toys or playing tug of war. I enjoy doing practice of behavior with treats such as stay, wait, come, sit, down, and shake. I also learned with my dogs how to settle and calm through relaxing massage at end of day or when overwhelmed.
