Availability

I'm self-employed, so I set my own hours and rarely have more than two hours of meetings on any given day. That means I'm genuinely around for the doggies during day care and walks. My husband also works from home, so there are two of us on hand if needed.

Safety, trust & environment

We only take bookings when we can guarantee someone's home; no dog is ever left alone here. Our garden is spacious, secure and mostly grass, with a small paddling pool for warm days, and in summer the back door stays open so dogs can move freely between house and garden. No kids, cats or other pets in the house (only my dog, Loki), so your dog gets our full attention. We're right on the edge of Epping Forest (3-minute walk) between Chingford and Highams Park for daily walks. I have short and longer leashes to balance your dog's safety, so they can also get the exercise they need. Always happy to do a meet and greet with Loki first. He has yet to meet an adult dog that he doesn't get along with.

Information Daphne T. would like to know about your pet

When we meet, let me know about: - Your dog's dietary requirements, if you desire any meals or treats to be given - Exercise needs/schedule; I'm flexible to adjust if they need more frequent walks - Preferences for walking: short vs long lead. I can walk dogs loose if desired, but I prefer first to do a few rounds with a long lead to see their recall, and if walked loose, I will use a Tractiv (GPS tracker for safety) and only let them loose sufficiently far from any roads. - Any specific commands to be aware of, personality, etc.

A typical day

Depending on your dog's arrival time (I'm an earlier riser so they are welcome from 6:30am onwards) they can join the morning walk or I'll take them for an extra walk later on. If it is a hot day, this will be the longer walk of the day. Otherwise, we will have a long lunchtime walk in the forest, Highams Park or Highams Lake. In between that, if the weather permits, they will be able to enjoy time in the garden. There is a small dog paddling pool, and I love to play ball with them too. I also have dog puzzles, lick mats to provide further enrichment.

Pet care experience

I'm self-employed, so my schedule is mine to set, which means your dog gets lots of attention. Most weekdays I've got no more than two hours of meetings, so I'm around to keep an eye on things even on "working" days. My husband, Martijn, works from home too, so there are two of us on hand if needed. We got our dog together, Loki, and he grew up with a rescue dog so is very comfortable around dogs. We live right on the edge of Epping Forest in Chingford, and Loki (my 6.5-year-old pomsky) gets 1.5 hours of forest walks a day, rain or shine. Any dog staying with us gets the same (unless less is desired). Our garden is spacious and mostly grass, with a small paddle pool for dogs who fancy a dip, and in summer the back door stays open so dogs can wander in and out as they please. I grew up co-responsible for my own family dog until she was nearly 15, so I've handled the full range from puppy energy (not mine, more on that below) to slower senior years. Since then, I've looked after more friends' dogs than I can count, and done several in-person dog training courses because I wanted to actually understand dog body language and communication, not just guess. I've also specifically sat anxious dogs and rescues before and know how to read and work with that as well as adjust to their needs. Loki is very sociable, he loves being chased and a good game of ball, but is just as happy to lie around quietly if your dog is more introverted (he's neutered, easy company either way). The one exception is puppies. He's not a fan of boisterous puppy energy, so I don't currently take dogs under 12 months. Always happy to do a meet and greet with Loki before any booking, so you can see for yourself how the two of them get on.

Daphne is a fantastic sitter. She's looked after our Frankie several times now and Frankie loves her so much she doesn't want to leave! Daphne is super attentive to Frankie's needs and has a lovely home and garden for dogs to play in. We get regular pupdates with photos and videos, which we love. Daphne is active herself, so Frankie always gets great walks, perfect for her energy levels. Highly recommend Daphne to anyone looking for a caring, reliable sitter!

Your dog will be treated like family when they’re at Daphne’s. She is absolutely fantastic with dogs of all sizes and you can immediately tell how much she genuinely loves and cares for them like they were her own. She always takes my dog on lovely long walks, gives him plenty of attention and ball time, and makes sure he’s comfortable at bedtime. Her enclosed backyard is also a huge bonus — it’s a great, safe space for the dogs to run around and play, while giving them plenty of outdoor time between walks. Our dog spends most of his time out there with hers when he visits! She’s no stranger to having 2-3 additional dogs in her care at one time and handles it with ease.

Daphne has taken care of my cavapoo, Mabel, on many occasions, and I cannot recommend her highly enough! Mabel is always so excited to see Daphne and clearly has the best time in her care - she is always well looked after with enriching walks, toys and treats. Daphne is punctual, reliable and trustworthy. She always takes into account and follows any care instructions that I give her, and I always appreciate the regular updates and photos thats I receive while Mabel is in her care. I look forward to continuing to regularly use Daphne’s services and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend her to anyone else!
