I treat every client’s home and pets with the same care and respect I give my own. I'm comfortable managing security systems, following specific house rules, and caring for pets in everything from cozy spaces to expansive homes. If your pet is only allowed in certain parts of the yard or house, I’ll be sure to stick to those boundaries. I always clean up after pets, whether that means scooping litter, picking up in the yard, or wiping muddy paws. I’m also happy to play fetch or engage your pets in their favorite games in designated areas to help them feel relaxed and entertained. My favorite downtime often includes curling up with a book or watching TV—ideally with a furry friend by my side. If your pet sleeps in your bed or likes company overnight, I’m more than happy to share the same space for extra comfort and companionship. Above all, I deeply respect your home and privacy. I take great care with your space and belongings and follow any specific instructions you leave. Your pet's safety and your peace of mind are my top priorities.

The more I know about your pet’s personality, the better I can care for them! Please feel free to share all their quirks, preferences, and sensitivities—no detail is too small. Do they dislike their harness? Get overly excited and have little accidents? Prefer not to have their ears touched? The more I understand their habits, the easier it will be for me to help them feel safe, comfortable, and understood. It’s also important to let me know if your pet has any behavioral concerns—such as reactivity toward other dogs, strong prey drive (hello squirrels!), or situations that may cause stress. Clear communication helps ensure a positive experience for everyone, and most importantly, keeps your pet happy and secure while you're away.
A typical day
I love engaging pets in fun, stimulating activities that match their energy and personality. Whether it’s a game of fetch, tug-of-war, or a fast-paced game of tag with zig-zag sprints to get tails wagging, I’m all in. I enjoy talking to animals, encouraging them to do tricks (with treats, if the owner allows!), and capturing their personalities in fun little photo shoots. Evenings often include a brisk walk to let them sniff the night air and listen to the quiet sounds of the evening, followed by cozy snuggles on the couch while I read or watch TV. I'm also happy to share the bed or sleep nearby if that’s what they’re used to. Mornings start with a potty break, then a longer mid-morning walk to start the day on a happy, active note. My goal is always to make your pet feel safe, loved, and entertained while you’re away.

As a lifelong animal lover and experienced caretaker, I bring years of hands-on experience, reliability, and genuine affection for animals to every home I care for. I'm a proud mom of two teenage humans and two beloved cats, happily married, and living in beautiful La Jolla. Over the years, I’ve helped many friends and neighbors care for their pets and homes, and I’m now expanding my services to offer that same dedicated care more widely. Our two cats, Dasher and Rivers—who we’ve raised since they were just three months old—are the heart of our home. My experience also includes raising and training a Lhasa Apso during my college years, a German Shepherd puppy while living in New York City, and two beagles—one from puppyhood and the other a sweet rescue mix. I’ve completed numerous obedience training courses and have read extensively on dog and cat behavior. Whether your pet is playful and energetic or prefers a calm, quiet presence, I tailor my approach to suit their unique personality. I’m familiar with caring for homes of all sizes, including those with complex security systems and detailed house rules. Daphne was wonderful with our dog, Hershey! He can be a little anxious with new people, but she was so patient and kind that he quickly warmed up to her. By the end of the visit, he was relaxed, happy, and clearly enjoying her company. We felt totally at ease knowing he was in such caring hands. Highly recommend!
Daphne took wonderful care of our three cats—our 2-year-old Turkish Van and our two 7-year-old Siberian brothers—while we were away. We asked her to visit twice a day to feed them and to spend some time with them in the afternoons so they wouldn't feel lonely. She was fantastic at playing with them, giving them attention, and sending us regular photo updates, which we really appreciated. She also kept their litter boxes clean and made sure everything was well taken care of. On top of that, she didn’t even charge extra for the third cat, which was such a kind gesture. We’re so happy to have found her!
I could not be more pleased with the care Daphne provided for my two dogs, Milo (11 years old) and Maverick (2 years old). She demonstrated an exceptional ability to meet their very different needs — offering Milo, my sweet "grandpa," the gentle affection and attention he loves, while engaging Maverick’s playful, energetic spirit through games of catch and other activities. After each visit, both dogs were happy, relaxed, and clearly well cared for. It brought me tremendous peace of mind knowing they were in such capable and loving hands.
