I work 4- 10 hour days, usually Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. I have every weekend off. Should I be sitting during the week, the dogs would have to be alone for ~ 10 hours. Should a pet fall under the weather, there’s a chance I could bring them to work with me. Over the weekend, my schedule is open for whatever fun we want to get into. I have a large car so we could go to dog parks, agility training or (after trust is built) hiking. At some point, if your pet is agreeable with lots of treats, we’ll do a costume photoshoot. There are a couple examples of this in the photo album here. If there’s time, I also like to bake for my clients, something for you to come home to. It’s nothing fancy but I like to use fruit that might go bad in your house over the trip.

Safety, trust & environment
My cat won’t tolerate another furry creature in his house, which is why I can only housesit. Ideally, I would like to observe feeding and walking routines before sitting. I will follow your feeding instructions, administer medications (if needed) and tailor my mornings around your pet’s needs. Furthermore, I know what pets can and can’t eat, I know what to do if your pet isn’t feeling well, and I can administer first aid if needed. I always bring premium dog treats and Churu while sitting. I love working on tricks and having a good snuggle. Our walks will always be leashed with treats for positive reinforcement. Walk times can be altered for anxious or dog aggressive pets. I give daily picture updates.
Information Danielle R. would like to know about your pet
I would need to know about any behavioural issues and how you’re working with it. I wouldn’t want to cause a setback in their progress. I would need to know specific triggers- leash reactivity, dog aggression, unfamiliar people, anxiety with new surroundings and that sort of thing. I wouldn’t be a good fit for a dog with separation anxiety as I work too long of hours. I would need to know of any illnesses and/or medications your pet has. Any allergies or special diets…..I wouldn’t be able to make a home cooked diet, for example.
A typical day
It’s difficult to say as all pets are different. I basically mold my routine around the patient’s routine. We will definitely go on walks, practice tricks, play and snuggle.

Pet care experience
I was fortunate to have a mom who loved all animals. I grew up with and cared for dogs (3 at a time at one point), lizards, snakes, Guinea pigs, hamsters and for a brief time some cockatiels. Currently, I work in a clinic that specialises in fear free care and treatment. We work with anxious and fearful dogs every day. It is the most rewarding feeling to see a scared dog come to love going to the clinic.

Reviews

Great care for my kitty! She was much happier when I came home from this trip that others before, and I feel she was better cared for. I will definitely book with Danielle again should the need arise!

Danielle sent daily pictures of broccoli. I could tell broccoli was having a great time while we were away. Always happy when danielle is available to watch her.

We have had a hard time finding a caregiver for our cat while away, because she can be mean. But Danielle was great with our grumpy, old kitty. Hazel seemed to warm up to her, which is a first! Danielle also went above and beyond and water my plants! Will definitely hire again :)

The floofs all loved her and were super well cared for. I'm very happy with the service and care!
