I’m now a full-time petsitter so I can follow your pet’s usual schedule. As a rule, I prioritise pets that have a strict medication timetable. Other than that, I work on a first come first serve basis, so the earlier you book me, the more likely you are to get your ideal time slot. Worth bearing in mind when booking for peak times e.g. school holidays. I work all days of the week by prior arrangement. I’m more of a night owl than an early bird by nature but with prior knowledge I am happy to adjust my routine where possible.

Safety, trust & environment

I visit pets in their own home as I feel this is a less stressful situation for the pet. Before the sit starts, I offer a free meet n greet service where the owner and animals can get to know me. This gives the pets the opportunity to give their seal of approval and the owners the chance to ask any questions. I like to know the pet’s medical needs, if a pet needs medication administered, I try to time the meet n greet around medication time so that I can see how the owners usually do it. I also like to know all the weird quirks every pet has; they’re favourite scritch spot, where they hide, any food quirks. I am fully DBS checked and have personal petsitting insurance outside of Rover. Around a week before the start of a sit, I’ll arrange to pick up a house key. During the sit, I like to be able to connect to WiFi, whether I’m allowed to make a cup of tea and I always like to know which vet the pets are registered at just in case. I usually send photo and video updates to owners everyday during a sit. If there are ever any health issues, I let the owners know and advise on whether I think the pet needs to visit a vet.

Information Danielle R. would like to know about your pet

I like to know about any current medical conditions your pets have and if I need to administer medication and how you usually do this. I like to have the address and contact number for the vet they are registered at and whether your pet is up to date with vaccines. If your pet has any behavioural issues e.g. doesn’t like other cats/dogs. I won’t cancel a petsit if there are behavioural issues, I just prefer to know so I can structure the visit accordingly e.g. time dog walks so that there aren’t lots of other dogs around. I like to know if you have cameras in your home. Again, cameras aren’t a deal breaker for me, I just don’t want a viral video of me singing a silly song to your cat. I like to know if you are comfortable with me making a brew, using your toilet and WiFi, and whether you mind me sharing your pet’s pics on social media. It’s your home and want to make sure that you are comfortable with me being in it ☺️

A typical day

My typical day depends on the pets I am looking after, I’m a pet-led sitter. I usually stay a minimum of 40 mins for each stay. For cats, I like to spend 5-10mins making a fuss of them when I first arrive - I love a cat cuddle. Then I will wash their food bowls and refill them. I’ll empty litter trays whilst they are distracted eating. Depending on the cat’s mood, I’ll then have either a couch snuggle with a cuddly cat or play with an energetic cat. I always send owners any cute pics or videos I’ve taken of their cat and let the owners know what mood they’re in. For dogs, I’ll give an initial hello and then immediately let them into the garden for a wee. Once they’ve calmed down from the initial excitement of having a friend visit, I’ll take them for a walk from their house or play in the garden depending on what the booking is. If it’s feeding time, I’ll wash their bowls and refill them. I’ll pick up any poos they’ve had whilst I’ve visited them. Then depending on the dog’s mood, we’ll have a cuddle or play some games. If you have any training you are doing, I will use this time to try and reinforce what you are practicing. During the doggy meet n greet, I ask you to let me know what commands you use so I can use the same ones.

Pet care experience

Hi! I’m Danielle and I’ve always loved cats and have been a cat owner for 20 years. I currently have a diva British Short Hair, Lilly, who looks just like the cat in my background picture. I am used to caring for cats of all ages, my first cat lived to 17! I used to volunteer at a local vet clinic so I am confident in my ability to give medication and keep calm in stressful situations. Most importantly, I am great at reading cat body language/behaviour so cats love me. I know when they want more cuddles or when they want to hide away from someone new. I have pet-sat for many friends over the years and have experience looking after cats, dogs, rabbits, birds and even tortoises! I live in Wigan. I work from home part-time so can adjust my schedule to suit your cat’s needs. If you want overnight stays, as long as you have WiFi I can work from your house and keep your cat company. I’ve joined Cat in a Flat as I am hoping to get some extra money doing something I love - cuddling cats! My main aim as a cat-sitter is to keep your cat happy and healthy whilst their family is away. I want my visits to be stress free for both the cat/s and the owners. If your cat has any little quirks, please tell me so I can keep them happy!

Danielle looked after our two ladies whilst we were away for 10 nights and she was absolutely fantastic ! She showed them as much love and attention as we do. We came home to two very happy kitties. The time she spent with them on each visit shows just how much she loves animals. Danielle updated us with pictures and videos from every visit and kept us up to date of how much they were eating. Would highly recommend Danielle and I will most definitely be booking with her again 🩷

Couldn’t have found a better cat sitter-I feel so blessed to have found her on here!! Trustworthy, affectionate, loving, affordable - such a wonderful woman! Sent us pictures videos and updates everyday ❤️ I even asked if she babysits too! Recommend her so much! Seffy was disappointed when I opened the door instead 😂 Can’t wait to book her again!
