I am currently working from home and am self-employed so my days are very flexible around the (short) school runs. When I leave the house for any reason, often my husband is here, but if not the dogs are settled into their beds in a warm room with a bowl of water and sometimes the TV running to keep them company. We never leave the house for more than a couple of hours maximum.

I feed my dogs in the morning and the evening - they have a mix of dry biscuits with some roast chicken and blended lentils and quinoa and greens - this originates from when my oldest dog wouldn't eat so I devised this recipe which he couldn't resist! And they all love it so much that it's somehow stuck around. I take my streetdog for a long walk (1-2 hours) in the morning usually on the common and through the woods, we usually set off at 9. I then walk my small dog in the late morning on a much shorter route at a much slower pace. During the afternoon they have regular access to a walled / fenced garden and they get a nice long play in the garden in the early evening. They tend to sleep in their own beds in a warm room downstairs - or in our bedroom during thunderstorms of course. Dogs that sleep over have the choice of staying in their crate during the night or in the their own bed. Our dashund keeps himself to himself but is very friendly. Our rescue is amazing with other dogs. After she was rescued in Greece, she lived in a big enclosure for 6 months with around 40 other dogs, as a result she is a master at reading other dog's personalities and preferences and she behaves accordingly. She knows exactly when to nuzzle and when to avoid eye contact with her fellows and she constantly amazes us with her intelligence and intuition.

Pet care experience

I grew up with dogs and genuinely prefer the company of dogs to people! I have had dogs of my own for 18 years, our beloved dachshund Brian was our first fur baby who we had the joy of knowing for 18 years. We hand-reared his son Stevie who was rejected by his mother at birth and is now 14 years old. 4 years ago we rescued beautiful Reeny from the streets of Greece when she was a very lively and undomesticated 6 months old. As a result, I am familiar with nervous rescues, gentle old seniors and playful puppies! Previously we have had lots of different dogs stay with us - from reliable old Labradors to super energetic whippets and dachshund puppies. I have walked dozens of different dogs over the years with plenty of needs - dogs that stay on a long line, dogs that trot by your side, dogs that prefer the lead, dogs that like to have their own space and dogs that love to be part of a pack. I like to make sure that every walk counts - dogs get a good chance to linger and sniff, to have a cuddle and a rest when needed and to enjoy the varied landscape that we are so lucky to have here.

Fantastic. I don't think our dogs wanted to come home. Lovely people, lovely home. Thanks so much for taking such great care of Dougal and Ted

Stanley loved his stay at Danielle's - I think he has been missing being part of a group, my older dog passed and my daughter's dog moved out with her, so he enjoyed the company. Danielle is very knowledgeable about dogs and she is helpful in assessing and monitoring his recovery from an injury.

Dani is the most wonderful ‘dog sitter’. Thoroughly enjoyed meeting her and our dog Flo had the most wonderful time, with walks and beautiful pictures taken. Great communication. Highly recommended

I couldn’t recommend Dani more highly. She has such a natural way with dogs - calm, intuitive with a deep connection to our furry friends. From the moment you meet Dani you feel an immediate sense of ease, and it’s clear how passionate she is about what she does. I always feel completely comfortable knowing my dog is in her care, and I can see how happy and settled he is with her, which says everything. She treats every dog as if they were her own, with genuine warmth, patience and care and Cooper is always so excited to see her. On top of that, she’s simply a wonderful human!
