DO NOT HIRE HER! - We hired Danielle through Rover, based on the 3 excellent reviews that she had. She came for a meet and greet, S connected with her immediately, and we weren't worried when we left for an 8 days road trip. - S suffers from anxiety when left alone, and needs to be on a strict diet due to a chronic gastrointestinal condition. Which is why we were looking for someone who could stay at our house, where S feels the safest, and would be with her most of the time. - The agreement with Danielle was: - S should preferably not be left alone for more than 4 hours, and in any case, never more than 7-8 hours. - 3 walks per day, roughly equally spread throughout the day, at least one of which 30 minutes. - Strict diet + following feeding and medication instructions - We made sure to wait for Danielle to arrive at our house before leaving, so we could once again show her where the food is and review everything. We had also sent her video's showing exactly how S needs to be fed and medicated. - While we were away, Danielle was not very communicative. Most of the time, we had to prompt her to get updates. - At some point, she said that S had diarrhea. Given her condition, we thought it might be due to something she ate and wasn't supposed to. The following day, Danielle reported that she already looks better. We had no idea what was really happening... - When my wife came home, on Friday night, the whole house was full of feces: on 3 separate couches, on a carpet, near the fire place, multiple places in the kitchen. Some of these were clearly dry and a few days old! - My wife sent a text to Danielle with a few pictures, asking for explanations - she completely ghosted us. We haven't heard from her since then. - We took S to the veterinary hospital, because she was clearly in a very bad shape. Turn out that she was: dehydrated, lethargic, and lost over 10% of her body weight!!! - Our house door locks with a Nest door lock, which can be monitored in an app on the phone. It turns out that Danielle had been leaving her alone for two 8+ hours stretches, a 14 hours stretch and even a 16 and a stretch of almost 20 hours!!! - Reviewing our Ring doorbell recordings corroborated these facts. We have communicated all this information verbatim to Rover.
