Pet care experience

Your Favorite Pet's Favorite Sitter

Hi! I'm so excited to be back on Rover :) I've spent all of my life surrounded by animals - personally, professionally, and academically. I truly love building connections with pets (and their humans!) I worked for over 7 years as an Animal Care Technician and Doggy Daycare Counselor where I earned the nickname "doodle whisperer" (though my love and skills extend to all breeds and species). I also coordinated social media and special events there, and even did custom pet portraits - which I may offer here in the future! I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology with a concentration in Animal Behavior, including coursework in canine cognition. I'm currently on hiatus from a master's program in Psychology, hoping to return soon to continue my research. My background includes everything from chimpanzees in Rwanda to behavior observations with the gorillas at the Philadelphia Zoo to working on cortisol studies with goats. These experiences taught me to observe animals closely, understand their needs, and interact with them in a respectful, caring way. I've been pet sitting independently for over a decade and am very comfortable with a wide variety of needs, personalities, and routines. Whether you're looking for overnight care in my home, drop-in visits for your cat or dog, or a reliable dog walker - I've got you covered.

Danielle took great care of our pup! We got tons of updates and pictures, and we were so happy to know our pup got a little vacation while we were away. She especially loved playing with her other furry friends there, and it always looked like they were having such a good time!

Schedule

I work from home as a marketing strategist, which gives me a lot of flexibility in schedule. This means I'm able to give pets plenty of attention throughout the day including walks, playtime, or just some extra cuddles. Since I'm home most of the time, I can easily accommodate feeding routines, medications, and other needs. I love having animal around - it makes the day better!

Safety, trust & environment

I always make sure pets feel safe, comfortable, and loved. I follow all instructions closely (feeding routines, medications, walk schedules, and any quirks your pet might have) because I know how important consistency is. In my home - I maintain a cozy environment and make sure pets have a safe space to relax, play, and feel at ease. I want my home to feel like a second home for them. Some of my clients refer to my house as their pets "vacation home" :) I'm also super mindful of things like leash safety, secure door/gates, and keeping hazardous items out of reach. In a client's home - I treat it with the same respect and care I would my own. I keep everything clean, stick to your pet's routine, and make sure your home feels the same as you left it when you return. Communication is really important to me as I know how it feels to be away from a pet, so I'm happy to send regular updates and photos!

Pets

A typical day

A typical day includes lots of walks, playtime, and whatever makes your pet the happiest! Since I work from my computer at home, I'm always looking for an excuse to get outside and walks with your pup are the perfect break. There are several parks nearby with lots of grass, trees, and other dogs' butts to sniff. While I don't take dogs to the dog park unless a client specifically asks, there is one nearby and I'm happy to include that if it's part of your pet's routine. At home, your dog will have plenty of attention - and maybe even a new friend! I have a young cat who's super playful and love dogs, so if your pup is cat friendly, they'll have a built-in playmate. I also have a lot of friends in the neighborhood and we regularly hang out at dog-friendly places like Philly Brewing Company, so if your dog enjoys being social, I'd be happy to bring them along. And if not, I'm also happy to curl up with them on couch and chill.

I always like to know about any food allergies/sensitivities, health issues, or medications ahead of time, as well as any behavioral things to keep in mind - like food or leash reactivity, separation anxiety, or resource guarding. It's also helpful to know if your pet is comfortable around other dogs or cats (especially since I have two dog-friendly cats at home), and any routines or quirks that help them feel safe and happy.
