Pet care experience

🐾 Certified trainer, tailored care

Calm, attentive care tailored to your pet. ☀️ Summer Safety Advisory ☀️ Due to Florida’s extreme heat and humidity, dogs are at serious risk of heat exhaustion and heatstroke in as little as 10–15 minutes of exertion during peak sun hours. Because of this, all walks during late spring through early fall may be shortened or adjusted for safety and replaced with enrichment-based activities, shaded sniff time, or indoor play when appropriate. Your dog’s health and comfort always come first. 🐾 Pet Care Experience I provide thoughtful, enrichment-focused care that’s tailored to each pet’s individual needs, energy level, and comfort. My goal is not just to “get through” a visit, but to make sure your pet feels safe, understood, and well cared for while you’re away. I have a background in wildlife sanctuary rehabilitation and have served as an adoptions director, which means I’ve worked hands-on with animals of all temperaments, ages, and medical needs. I’m comfortable administering medications ( just not injections), managing multi-pet households, and supporting shy, anxious, senior, or special-needs pets. My approach to pet care is informed by ongoing education in dog behavior, body language, and force-free, reward-based training. I pay close attention to stress signals, pacing, and environment, and I adjust each visit accordingly. Whether your dog needs structured activity, calm companionship, or space to decompress, I aim to meet them where they are. 🦴 Bonus Enrichment Option I also manage one of Gainesville’s top-rated private Sniffspots, The Zoomie Zone, located in Midtown. This fully private, reservation-only yard is ideal for dogs who benefit from off-leash play without the pressure of public dog parks. Many clients choose to incorporate Sniffspot visits into walks or drop-ins as a way to provide safe zoomies, sniff-based enrichment, or low-distraction decompression time. If you’re interested in adding a Sniffspot visit to your booking, feel free to ask. Returning clients can also receive discount codes for independent bookings. Whether we’re heading out for a structured walk, enjoying shaded sniff time, or keeping things low-key indoors, I focus on providing calm, attentive, and reliable care you can trust.

Schedule

🗓️ Scheduling and booking process To make sure every booking is safe, smooth, and a good fit, I require a complimentary 15-minute meet and greet for all new clients. This takes place at the location where care will be provided and gives us a chance to review your pet’s routine, home setup, safety needs, and comfort level. **Meet and greet exceptions:** * Cats do not require a meet and greet unless there are medications, behavioral concerns, or a complicated home setup * Puppies under five months may be booked without a meet and greet when appropriate * Returning clients may fast-track future bookings Please schedule your meet and greet at least 72 hours before your first requested service so we have enough time to coordinate properly. After the initial meet and greet, you are all set for future bookings. If you move to a new home or apartment, you are welcome to schedule another visit so I can become familiar with the new layout, entry instructions, and pet-care setup. 🚶‍♀️ Dog walks and drop-ins I organize dog walks and cat drop-ins into efficient daily routes using flexible arrival windows. This helps reduce unnecessary travel time while still allowing me to provide thoughtful, attentive care during every visit. Dog-care windows: * Standard visits generally take place between 11:30 AM and 2:00 PM * Morning visits may begin as early as 8:00 AM * Evening visits may be available for dogs who need additional flexibility **Cat-care windows:** * My preferred cat visit window is between 11:30 AM and 2:00 PM * Visits requiring medication or strict timing will be scheduled around those needs whenever possible Dogs are generally prioritized earlier because of restroom needs, but every pet receives the same level of care, attention, and communication. 🐾 Premium boarding Boarding is a high-touch, in-home service for clients who want a fully hands-off experience while their dog is away. At this time, boarding is available only to dogs who already have an established walking, drop-in, or daycare relationship with me. This helps ensure your dog is already comfortable with me, my home, my routine, and my resident pets before an overnight stay. While boarding with me, your dog will: * Live inside my home as part of the household * Be my only boarding guest and receive individualized attention * Receive daily enrichment, engagement, and structured downtime * Enjoy supervised access to my private Sniffspot for play, sniffing, and decompression * Follow a routine tailored to their age, energy level, temperament, and physical needs Enrichment may include: * Frozen meals or food puzzles using West Paw Toppls * Sniff-based games, treat hunts, and low-pressure training activities * Nature walks or hikes at San Felasco when weather permits * Visits to quiet recreational fields when no other animals are present * Indoor play and low-impact enrichment during extreme heat or storms Most dogs return home happy, fulfilled, and very ready for a nap. 🚨 Boarding behavior and safety expectations The safety and comfort of my resident pets are a top priority. Dogs boarding with me must be safe around cats and respectful toward my personal dog. Dogs showing aggression, predatory behavior, severe resource guarding, or repeated unsafe behavior toward resident animals may not be eligible for boarding. If a boarding stay must be ended for safety reasons, care may be converted to drop-in visits at your home for feeding, potty breaks, and companionship whenever possible. 🚗 Premium pick-up and drop-off For added convenience, I offer pet transportation as an optional add-on. I can personally pick up or return your dog along my existing daily route, allowing you to leave your dog comfortably at home without coordinating an in-person handoff. This service is priced accordingly to reflect the additional time, travel, and personalized care involved. ⛔ Important booking policies * One complimentary meet and greet is included for new clients * Additional meetings should be booked as a walk or drop-in to cover time and travel * Every pet receiving care must be listed on the Rover booking * Bookings should be confirmed within 48 hours of the meet and greet or the requested time may be released * House-sitting and drop-in bookings follow a seven-day cancellation policy * Availability is not guaranteed until a booking has been formally confirmed by you. through Rover. If you have questions, a complicated schedule, or a pet with unusual care needs, I am always happy to talk through the details before booking.

Safety, trust & environment

Care philosophy and communication: In my home, pets and plants are family, and every animal in my care is treated with the same level of respect, attention, and consideration I give my own. I understand that every pet has an individual personality and different needs. Some thrive on companionship, while others prefer play, structure, quiet encouragement, or simply having a calm person nearby. My goal is to be a steady, reassuring presence your pet can rely on while you’re away. Whether I’m caring for your pet in their own home or taking them on an enrichment field trip to The Zoomie Zone, I focus on creating a safe, engaging, and low-stress experience that supports both their physical and emotional well-being. During each visit, you’ll receive a detailed Rover Card with notes about meals, potty breaks, mood, activities, and anything noteworthy from our time together. If your pet gives me an especially great photo opportunity, I may also send along a favorite edited image. Unless something genuinely requires your attention, I will not interrupt your vacation, work trip, or conference. My goal is to be both your pet’s advocate and your peace of mind while you’re away. 🚨 Safety and stress policy Safety is always my top priority, both for your pet and for me. If a pet displays aggression, extreme fear, severe anxiety, or behavior that makes a visit unsafe, I will still make every reasonable effort to ensure their essential needs are met, including food, water, medication when safely possible, and potty access. However, I may modify or shorten the visit if continuing would increase stress or create a risk of injury. This is never done as punishment. It is a safety decision intended to prevent escalation and protect everyone involved. Any significant concerns will be clearly documented and communicated to you. 🛏️ Crate or confinement requirement for boarding For boarding stays, dogs must be comfortable resting safely in a crate, exercise pen, gated room, or behind another secure household barrier. This is a firm boarding requirement. At night, during meals when separation is needed, and anytime dogs cannot be directly supervised, boarding guests will be safely confined. This gives every animal appropriate space to rest and ensures all pets remain secure while I am sleeping, showering, completing household tasks, or briefly away from home. Crates and gated spaces are always used as calm, neutral resting areas, never as punishment. If your dog normally uses a crate, pen, gated room, or another confinement routine at home, please share the details with me so I can keep their stay as familiar and low-stress as possible. Dogs do not need to love being crated, but they must be able to tolerate safe confinement without panicking, attempting to escape, or injuring themselves. If your dog is not currently comfortable with any form of secure separation, boarding may not be the right fit at this time. In that case, drop-in care in their own home may be a safer and more comfortable alternative. This is non-negotiable.

Pets

A typical day

Describe a Typical Day Every day is shaped around the individual pet in front of me. I take their routine, age, energy level, temperament, mobility, and comfort into account rather than forcing every pet into the same schedule. Morning Care Around 8:00 AM through late morning Morning visits focus on starting the day calmly and covering the essentials. This may include: Potty breaks Breakfast and fresh water Medications A relaxed walk or outdoor time Quiet companionship for pets who prefer a slower start For dogs who benefit from it, walks are often slower and sniff-focused rather than centered on distance or speed. This can be especially helpful for anxious, excitable, senior, or high-energy dogs who need a chance to decompress and use their brain. Senior pets may enjoy a short stroll, gentle movement, or simply some peaceful time outside for fresh air and attention. Midday Visits Usually between 11:30 AM and 2:00 PM Midday visits are organized into efficient routes, but the care itself is never rushed. Each visit is adjusted to what your pet needs that day. For cats, this may include: Fresh food and water Litter box maintenance Medication when needed Play, brushing, companionship, or respectful space A quick check of their mood, appetite, and overall well-being For dogs, visits may include: A neighborhood walk Shaded sniff time Enrichment games Long-line exploration in safe, appropriate settings Low-impact play Simple reinforcement of skills they already know For puppies, I may incorporate light structure and age-appropriate brain work, such as polite greetings, calm leash habits, name recognition, hand targeting, gentle mouths, or brief impulse-control exercises. These are not formal training sessions, but they can help reinforce good habits and give busy puppy brains something productive to do. Afternoon and Evening Care As needed Some pets benefit from another visit later in the day. These visits may include: Another potty break or walk Dinner Medication Indoor enrichment Quiet companionship A calm bedtime routine Evening visits are generally lower-energy and focused on helping pets settle comfortably for the night. Updates and Communication After every walk or drop-in, you’ll receive a detailed Rover Card with notes about what we did, how your pet seemed to feel, and anything notable from the visit. Photos are included whenever possible. My updates often include details about meals, potty breaks, energy level, mood, enrichment, and any changes I notice. Many clients tell me the Rover Cards become one of their favorite parts of the day while they’re away. Every pet is different. Some want active play and adventure, while others are happiest with a sniffy walk, a small brain game, or someone quietly sitting nearby. My goal is always to meet them where they are and help them feel comfortable, engaged, and cared for. Boarding Client Updates For boarding clients, I keep communication consistent without making you feel like you need to stay attached to your phone while you’re away. Each afternoon or evening, you’ll receive a photo collage showing highlights from your dog’s day. This may include enrichment, supervised outdoor play, walks, sniffing, naps, or time relaxing as part of the household. I generally follow a “no news is good news” approach during boarding. If everything is going smoothly, you can expect your daily photo update without frequent check-ins or unnecessary interruptions. If something needs your attention, I will contact you right away. This system gives you a clear glimpse into your dog’s stay while still allowing you to enjoy your trip, work event, or time away knowing they are settled, engaged, and well cared for.

🐶 Training and Handling I am a certified, force-free, reward-based dog trainer. Although walks, drop-ins, house sitting, and boarding are not structured training sessions, my handling, enrichment choices, and communication are informed by modern training principles. I am happy to reinforce skills your dog already knows, support consistency with household routines, and use positive methods that protect their emotional well-being. Formal training sessions are booked separately from standard Rover services. 🐾 What We’ll Discuss at the Meet and Greet The more I understand about your pet ahead of time, the safer and more individualized their care can be. During our meet and greet, we’ll review the areas most relevant to your booking. Behavior and Safety Please share: Reactivity toward dogs, people, wildlife, bicycles, vehicles, or unfamiliar situations Known triggers, previous incidents, and strategies that have helped Resource guarding involving food, toys, furniture, resting spaces, people, or other pets Door darting, gate rushing, escape attempts, or barrier frustration Sensitivities involving handling, grooming, paws, collars, harnesses, or being moved Environmental triggers such as storms, construction, delivery vehicles, vacuums, hats, or strangers Honest information does not automatically disqualify your pet from care. It helps me plan safely and avoid putting them in situations they are not prepared to handle. Walking and Handling We’ll discuss: Leash behavior, including pulling, lunging, freezing, zigzagging, or scavenging Preferred walking equipment and anything you do not want used Favorite routes, areas to avoid, and neighborhood concerns Recall reliability and whether your dog is ever permitted on a long line Redirection methods that have worked well in the past I use force-free, reward-based handling and do not use aversive tools or physical corrections. Routine and Training Please let me know: The cues your dog already understands Any current training goals you would like reinforced Crate, pen, or gated-area routines Furniture and room boundaries How long your dog can comfortably hold their bladder Whether visit times are strict or flexible How your dog typically settles after activity Their general energy level and preferred balance of activity and rest For puppies, this may also include house-training routines, teething, enforced naps, confinement comfort, and appropriate expectations for their age. Food, Medication, and Enrichment We’ll review: Meals, feeding instructions, and dietary restrictions Allergies, sensitivities, or medicated food Feeding speed and whether slow feeders or puzzle bowls are used Favorite treats and high-value rewards Toy preferences and whether certain items require supervision Medication instructions and any concerns about administering it Grooming needs such as brushing, paw wiping, or light coat care Personality and Preferences Please share anything that helps your pet feel secure and successful, including: Favorite games, toys, treats, or resting places Whether they prefer affection, play, structure, or quiet companionship Any unusual habits or routines How they communicate when they are nervous, tired, overstimulated, or ready for space Anything you think I might misunderstand without context The little quirks are often some of the most useful information. 📶 Additional Notes Wi-Fi Access Some areas of Gainesville have inconsistent cellular reception. Providing Wi-Fi information helps me complete Rover Cards, communicate promptly, and reach you if something requires attention. Scheduling Courtesy Please let me know as soon as possible if your plans change or you return home early. If I arrive and the visit is no longer needed but I was not notified, the service will still be charged. ⚠️ Safety and Care Boundaries Safety is always my priority, both for your pet and for me. If a pet displays aggressive, panicked, or otherwise unsafe behavior, I may modify or shorten the visit to prevent further escalation. I will still make every reasonable effort to provide essential care, including food, water, medication when safely possible, and potty access. Any significant concern will be documented and communicated clearly.
