Availability
My schedule for staying in your home is flexible and I can adapt to the needs of your pup's routine. I'm active, so I can provide walking your dog up to 2x per day. I can typically be gone 4 hours or so during the day or in and out, but I make my own schedule with remote work. I am home in the evenings most of the time and if I do go out, it's not late. Note on walks to consider: If your dog is a larger, strong dog and is untrained on leash - (yanks and pulls constantly on leash)- I’m not the best fit as I have a weak shoulder from a bike crash. We can discuss!

Your pet's routine with nutrition, walks, play and sleep in their daily life is what is important to me. My focus is working with you to make sure your dog is as comfortable as possible when you are gone. If you have certain language commands you use, we can review those before I begin sitting. You can expect photos/videos from me for how they are doing!
Information Dana M. would like to know about your pet
Please let me know if your pet has any medical needs or behaviors to attend to so I can be aware if something seems abnormal. Building trust with your pet is very important to me!
A typical day
A day with your pet includes walks in the neighborhood and/or trails, and if there is a dog park, we can do that for running and play. Playing catch with a ball thrower is always a good time, as well! I love to give positive affirmations and praise. For smaller dogs, I like to spend some time each day playing with them with their toys. And treats are always a part of the fun!

Pet care experience
Dogs have been a big part of my life since I was a child, from our family's pet dachshunds to being fur "sister" and "aunt" for the many pooches over the years I've spent time with and cared for. I owned a wonderful Chow Chow named "Cubby" when I was a young adult and learned with him how to lead train for walks from the time he was a puppy :). I've cared for a variety of types, sizes, and personalities of dogs, including Maltese, Portuguese Podengo, Labs of all "colors" :), Border Collies, German Shorthair Pointer, English Sheepdog, and quite a few others that are mostly rescue with mixed heritages, including older and/or disabled pooches. I have a lot of experience with long term house sits including taking care of the home and pets, as well as walking dogs and administering medication. I've been through dog training classes and also have learned some sign language when I helped a friend with a deaf dog.

Dana took care of my dogs for a few days and sent pics of them happily playing with their toys, getting pets, and going on walks. She even checked on my garden and offered to water it when she noticed the drip irrigation was broken.

We’ve used Dana multiple times now and our pets are always happy, healthy, and well cared for when we come home :) highly recommend!

Thank you Dana! Zipper was very content when we got home. Tells me you did a great job. Look forward to your next stay.
Dana did a great job staying at the house and taking care of Kona for 4 days. Communication was great. Came home to a happy dog. I couldn't ask for more.
