We are retirees so your pet is my day. That’s the focus. Walks, chase, fetch…that’s the day. If your puppy is tired then and only then do we do something not pet focused.

I live on a lake in the bush. I believe in plenty of exercise and fresh air which means your pet will be outside, in nature, most of the day. Unless they are a flight risk, they will be roaming freely. We also go for a long walk every day - 5 to 10km roaming freely, running and exploring in the bush (only if they are a flight risk will they be on lead). Your puppy will have the best time! It’s kind of like kid camp but for puppies! Because they will be free, they will get dirty and they may encounter nature. We have had puppies meet porcupines. If that happens we will take any necessary action but any vet bills will be the pet owners responsibility. It has only happened once that we had to take a puppy to the vet but it is a possibility when they have the freedom to run and explore.
Information Dana M. would like to know about your pet
We can only care for dogs who get along with other dogs. We often have other visitors of the four legged variety. Your puppy will become part of our pack! The critters who come into our life become our family. We love and care for all as if they are our own!
A typical day
We walk a lot and in the winter we add ski-joring (I cross-country ski and control the dogs via a lead around my waist.). There are MILES of trails, quiet roads and gravel pits with spring fed ponds we will be visiting. In the winter we pack a trail around the lake for a quick one mile walk. We add ball throwing, swimming, boat rides, and cuddle time to round out our days.

Pet care experience
I’ve always had a pet. - fish, rabbits, birds, gerbils, dogs and cats. My husband and I are retired (me a cop and him a dairy farmer) and we live on beautiful spring fed Fairy Lake, Hudson Township. We have MILES of trails to walk and run dogs! This past year both our children have added puppies to their households and we’ve helped train Sadie - Golden Lab, Jack - Havanese, Tucker - Havaco and Charlie - Corgi/Australian Shepherd. We’ve also been sitting our neighbours Blue Merle Australian Shepherd. If you get the idea there are puppies in our life you would be very correct! If you want experience, someone strong enough to handle a large dog but gentle enough to care for a little one, look no further. FYI - we will need to do a Meet and Greet BEFORE caring for you fur family member. It’s imperative that we all ‘know’ each other and will get along - we ensure our ‘guests’ are suited for each other. To explain, if we have large active dogs then we can’t have a small, frail, limited activity puppy and vice versa. - this is our home, not a commercial boarding facility so our numbers have to be respectful of the size of our home - puppies need to be vaccinated. We realize some may not have completed the process due to age but it should be accomplished at the earliest possibility - we will be walking your puppy in a wilderness area. We make every effort to ensure there are no unfortunate interactions but it can happen (we have had puppies meet porcupines). If a vet visit is required as a result of an interaction we will take your pet to a vet the cost of which will be your responsibility. - we prefer to allow your pet to explore and experience the freedom of being off lead. If your pet does not have good recall we will use a lead until they learn the skill. And finally, we House and Pet Sit worldwide so will be travelling a bit in the winter months.
Reviews

Dana was absolutely terrific with our golden retriever pup. When we picked him up to drive away he looked longingly out the back window. He will be excited to return. Firm when needed, fantastic walks, sent us pics and a video, out in nature where he loves it as well as some extra "social" visits with neighbors, and a bit of play with other pouches. We are so blessed to have connected with Dana on Rover. Crockett will be looking forward to a chance to return.

I was so relieved to know Bell was is good hands all day, and she had so much fun. Dana has really good discretion and is very knowledgeable. I love the photo updates. I am so grateful for her help.

100% recommend! You’ll not find a better boarder! Dana spends time letting your pet acclimate, maintains your routine and exercises your dog(s). She had my 2 dogs for 5 nights and I received daily maps of their walks along with dozens of pictures of my smiling pups. Gus and Annie can’t wait to go back for another hike, boat ride, treat and cuddle! Thanks Dana & Laurie

Dana was absolutely amazing! Our puppy Pluto could not have enjoyed herself more! And with updates throughout her stay I had no concerns that she was safe and happy! Thank you so much! I could not recommend Dana enough!
