Pet care experience

Dana’s Dog Lodge, LLC (full-time!)

Hi! I’m Dana and Dana’s Dog Lodge, LLC is my full-time business. I am registered with the State of Colorado and the City of Fort Collins, I have an approved home occupancy license to board dogs in my home and I have specific insurance to cover both me and your dog while they are in my care. I would be happy to send you an insurance certificate! I’ve lived in Fort Collins since 2017. I recently said goodbye to my very sweet 12.5-year-old dog, Mojo, and my home feels far too quiet without him. Caring for your dogs is a meaningful way to share the same love, patience, and attention I gave him for so many years. I’m truly dog-obsessed — I’m always the person sitting on the floor petting dogs wherever I go. Mojo had complex medical needs, including IBD and heart disease that progressed into congestive heart failure, so I’m very comfortable managing special diets, GI issues, and daily medications (pills, liquids, and injections). I also have over five years of experience working in a veterinary hospital alongside veterinary professionals, which has shaped how seriously I take safety, communication, and individualized care. My home is calm and low-stress, making it a great fit for senior dogs, dogs with medical needs, and dogs who benefit from extra patience or structure. I have experience caring for dogs with separation anxiety and behaviorally sensitive or reactive dogs, and I approach care with calm handling, clear routines, and thoughtful attention to what helps each dog feel secure. During a Meet & Greet, I like to talk through your dog’s routine, preferences, and any known triggers so we can make sure my home is a comfortable and supportive fit. I tailor care to each dog — whether that means gentle walks, outdoor time, enrichment and play, or lots of cozy downtime and snuggles. I focus on consistency and trust so dogs settle in quickly. Meet & Greets: I prefer to schedule a Meet & Greet before booking so we can ensure it’s a great fit for everyone. This allows your dog to become familiar with me and my home and helps set the stage for a smooth, stress-free stay. — IMPORTANT TO NOTE — Rover keeps 31% of what clients pay & sitters receive the remaining 69% (Rover collects a booking fee of 11% from the client & 20% commission from the sitter.)

Dana took excellent care of our Honey Bear. She supported and continued the training we had been working on and gave her all the care and love she needed. Dana communicated extremely well with lots of photos and detailed and insightful comments. Dana did a fantastic job and made it much easier to leave Honey Bear in her capable care.

Dana is the absolute best!!! She cares so much for dogs. She cared for my Cookie like she was her own. She followed every detail of my care instructions. She sent texts, pics, even videos every day. She’s a wonderful person with a huge heart. The best part was that Cookie loved her!

Dana was fabulous with our sweet, but anxious, pup. She took him on hikes every day and provided great details and photos about his stay. We didn’t feel guilty about going on our trip without him because he was getting great care and exercise.

Dana is INCREDIBLE! She is the biggest dog lover I know and took the best care of our 2 pups. She treated Daisy & Sadie as if they were hers & you could see they were so loved in all the photos she sent us. She gave them lots of outdoor time & fun activities/treats to do. We can’t thank you enough, Dana! You are the best! Sadie & Daisy miss you & cant wait to come back! :D

Nothing but good things to say about our puppy’s stay with Dana! All the fun updates and cute pictures Dana shared throughout our puppy’s visit gave us such peace of mind during our travels. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience, and we’d absolutely recommend Dana to anyone who wants assurance that their pup is going to be given lots of care and attention while they’re away! - Ben & Ashlyn

Dana is our favorite, my dog HATES other animals and Dana does such a good job keeping her happy and safe when we have to travel. Jameson loves her yard, and always comes home happy and healthy. She loves when we tell her she is going to Auntie D’s house. Thanks Dana for loving our anxious girl see you again soon.

Safety, trust & environment

My house is very dog friendly and always fully stocked with treats! I have a large fully fenced yard with a 6 foot cedar fence. I have over 14 years of experience around dogs and I’m comfortable with all breeds of dogs and all ages and sizes!

A typical day

I love the outdoors! I enjoy walking around neighborhoods and love finding new parks to walk around in and going on fun hikes! I would be happy to play fetch or just sit in the yard or in the house and snuggle! I know how important it is for dogs to get time to 'smell the flowers' and enjoy their walks. I love Colorado and I enjoy dog walks and hikes just as much as they do!

What does a typical day look like for your pup? Any allergies or meds? Are they reactive or aggressive? What kind of pets or snuggles do they like or not like? Which vet clinic do they go to? Who should be your emergency contact? If there was an emergency, I live three minutes from CSU vet emergency - can I take them there? What are the activities that make them the happiest? Finally, one very important question - what are their favorite treats?!? I want to make sure I have all of the information I need to keep your dog happy, healthy, and safe. ᵕ̈
