I work from home full-time, so your dog is never left alone for long and always has eyes on them throughout the day. My home has a securely fenced yard, and I take introductions between dogs slowly and intentionally, reading body language carefully before giving anyone free run of the space. My seven year old dog Yama is a steady, positive presence who helps visiting dogs settle in. I use positive reinforcement exclusively because a dog that feels safe and understood is a dog that behaves safely. If anything ever seems off medically or behaviorally, I'll contact you promptly - that being said, that hasn't ever happened.

No breed preference (I like pit bulls). If your dog is working on behavioral things, I'd like to know, like if your dog is overly aggressive, has anxiety (especially separation anxiety), is reactive or has any other big fears.
A typical day
Our activities will depend on the activities he or she does with you. If he has games he likes, we'll do them. I want to try and disrupt your dog's schedule and routine as little as possible while you are gone. That being said, I am very active and if your dog needs a lot of exercise I can provide it via walking, running, trails, mental/puzzle games, smell games, whatever he is used to I can provide.

Hi, I'm Dan! My best buddy Yama was born in January of 2019, he is now a seven year old good boy. I am a former Army infantry medic and am attending graduate school remotely from my house. I grew up on a farm in Oregon where I was surrounded with all sorts of animals from a young age. I love all animals, especially dogs. My style is fairly permissive, especially with other people's dogs, but I am clear on boundaries, redirect when needed, and give lots of love and positive energy. I don't buy into the dominance theory training methodology and am a big fan of Karen Pryor's training methods. I am happy to answer any questions you have on my philosophy.

This is the first trip I've come home from and not felt stressed about all of the things I have to do around the house. It was just as we had left it three days prior. Dan did an amazing job of keeping us posted on our pets, getting our young dog plenty of exercise, and keeping our house in order. We have a deaf dog, two "normie" cats and a deaf kitten. Keeping all of that in order is not an easy job. Highly recommend Dan-he really does a fantastic job and we hope to continue to use him for our future travel!
Huge mahalo to Dan for taking such great care of our old spoiled pit bull. She can be fearful and shy, but she warmed right up to him. It's obvious he has a way with animals! Dan's number one priority seems to be to keep the animal comfortable and happy. He was very communicative and sent us lots of pictures while we were away, which put our minds at ease. Thanks Dan!
