Highlights
Pet care experience
PTA by day, animal lover all day.
I’ve had numerous pets over the years—dogs and cats. I’m familiar with medication administration when needed, as well as basic grooming needs. I understand animal body language, proper leash handling, positive reinforcement, and, most importantly, patience.
Cat care experience

Dakota also cares for cats. Learn about their cat-specific care experience.

Safety, trust & environment
I very recently lost my dog to stage 5 leukemia. I was in the process of getting ready for his CCL surgery before his passing. I did as much as I could, but I most importantly made sure he was comfortable and loved, something I will be sure to give your animals as well. I would groom him myself, take him hiking, to the beach and long drives.
Ratings and reviews
We last minute booked with Dakota before the holidays due to our good friends (who have pet sit for us before) needing to cancel on us. This of course was very stressful at the time, it was last minute during the holidays, we had to travel, and we knew we would not be leaving our babies until we found a solution. A coworker of mine had mentioned Rover to me, and I just happened to find Dakota. His rates were very affordable, especially in comparison to the other pricier pet sitters on this site. Understandably, people are pricing themselves and accounting for the cut that Rover takes, but with that in mind Dakota is asking for nothing all while being just as qualified as many other accounts I could see. He would message me and wave hello to my ring camera as he came and went and he would always send more than one photo a day. One of my cats is very social and one is a little shy but oddly enough I can tell through the photos shared that my shy one warmed up to him very quickly and my social one was skeptical haha. By the end of our trips we would have the happiest pictures of our kitties with Dakota. Both my pets had some separation anxiety while I was gone which included accidents or vomiting and he kindly informed me on what happened and he cleaned it up. I really appreciate Dakotas care over our holiday period and I will be booking with him again privately due to Rover taking a large cut. I am very grateful for this app for connecting me to a forever pet sitter, I highly recommend Dakota.

2.6/5.😔 3 stars because she’s alive and well, which is my #1 priority. I was really truly hopeful and optimistic coming home after leaving my Yoshi girl. Unfortunately, upon inspection of her litter, it was filled to the brim *clearly not half a days worth* of cat waste. He visited just this morning. The litter genie was practically empty, and the waste in the genie was most likely from prior to us leaving for the airport. (We’d relined the litter genie and scooped her new pee four days ago) We had added extra litter because prior pet sitters don’t know how to scoop litter. Cats are cleanly creatures. How would you like to be pooping on your old poop and pee? It’s EXTREMELY disheartening to come home and realize how little people care to do a simple task. A 30 minute check-in is plenty of time to scoop litter. It took my husband *not kidding* approximately 3 minutes (less cuz we were in shock) to scoop about 6 pee clumps (probably more) and a bunch of poop. Dakota, I hope you realize that this is people’s money. I understand we all have busy lives, but feedback like this is important if you want to continue receiving clients in the future. 😊

Dakota has watched my dog, Gizmo, and my cats, Goblin and Lugnut, for many years now. He's very attentive to their needs and cares for them as much as I do. He has clipped their nails on multiple occasions and has bathed Goblin at least once that I know of. I would happily leave my animals in his care any day.
Dakota is a fantastic person and has helped with my dog on multiple occasions. He shows great care for any animal he meets whether it be dogs, cats, etc. My dogs love whenever he comes around or whenever he is available to care for them when I am out of town.
Dakota was excellent when looking after my 3 year old basset hound, Bentley. He sent photo updates to give me piece of mind while I was away and created a true bond with Bentley. It’s nice to have a reliable care over for my pet like Dakota!
Dakota is great! My husband and I adopted a cat earlier this year and we're struggling with the thought of leaving him home alone all weekend while visiting family. I hate having people in my home, but Dakota was the first person I thought of that I knew I could trust. I knew I could trust him in our home, and I knew I could trust him to actually care for our cat while we were gone! He also updated me everyday and was quick to respond when I reached out while we were gone. He is also great with dogs too! We typically take our dog with us when we visit family, but Dakota would be the first person I would ask if I needed a sitter! (Especially for my high energy 3 year old golden!).
