Pet care experience

No fear of giant dogs!

I am currently a PhD and most of time is spent reading and writing. I have a very flexible schedule. I took a break from Rover over the summer because I traveled extensively for my research so there wasn’t much flexibility in my schedule. If you live over 15 miles away from my home, there will be a surcharge of $5 per day to accommodate for gas. I have cared for and grown up with large breeds of dogs, as well as breeds known to be aggressive. I was 18 when I first dog sat professionally, so I have ten years of experience. There has never been a point in my life where I haven’t owned a dog and I have worked with several breeds. I’ll gladly walk, play with, brush and love your dog. I’m also glad to work with dogs who may be more afraid of strangers and take the time with you, the owner, to build a relationship with your dog. Then once you’re comfortable, you can leave your dog alone in my care. I really enjoy bonding with more timid dogs. I graduated with a bachelors degree in Animal Biology and am now a PhD student at UC Davis studying entomology. I’m more than happy to stay in your home and care for your dog (and any other animals or plants you may have ) while you are gone, and I will make the necessary changes to my schedule to make sure your dog is taken outside every four to six hours. I’m also extremely comfortable working with reptiles, cats, horses and some other farm/livestock animals; so I can house sit any other pets you may have. Please contact me with if you’re interested in me as a sitter or walker, or with any questions or concerns!

Crystal was super responsive for my last minute request for drop in care for my two senior dogs! Great communication and I felt very assured that she’d take excellent care of my dogs. I look forward to having Crystal watch my dogs again in the future.

Crystal was absolutely amazing with our two doggies. She took great care of them and our house while we were away ! I’m an extremely overly paranoid dog mom and it’s always hard for me to leave my dogs with someone else, but Crystal did such an amazing job keeping me posted and sending pictures and updates of our pooches the whole time. We will definitely be booking her again in the future!

Crystal was amazing with our dog over the holiday break! We have a giant dog who can be leash reactive with other dogs on walks so we are always looking for someone who is able to handle him and Crystal was wonderful. He was also on the tail end of a respiratory illness and required medication and extra needs for feeding which Crystal handled with no issues. Both my partner and I were heading to different locations for Christmas so Crystal offered to create a group text so we could receive updates which was really appreciated! We got a thorough update with several pictures every day which really helped ease our minds over the holidays. It was really rainy while we were away which our dog doesn’t love and Crystal went above and beyond to ensure he got all his energy out with walks and lots of indoor playtime. We retuned to a very happy dog and the house was left in immaculate condition. I would highly recommend Crystal and will definitely be using her services again!

Calendar and availability

Schedule

I am PhD student at UC Davis and I make my own schedule. I no longer take courses, but I am a teaching assistant. My schedule is generally very flexible. Sittings that are over 15 miles from house will have a $5 surcharge per day to compensate for gas.

Where your pet will stay

Safety, trust & environment

I care for pets by paying very close to their body language and other behaviors which I have significant experience with. By doing so, I am able to meet your pets needs while keeping them comfortable. I also strictly adhere to the routine set my the owner to keep your pet as relaxed as possible. I will also speak with owners regarding a pet’s walking behavior/preferences and their behavior around other animals before taking the pet outside of the home. If a owner requests that I take their dog to the dog park, I will also pay very close attention to your dog’s behavior as well as the behavior of other dog’s at the park. I will do everything to the best of my ability to keep you pet safe.

Pets

A typical day

We’ll go on walks, potentially a hike or to the dog park (only with your permission of course)! I’m also happy to bathe and groom your dog while you’re away as well. I’ll be sure to ask if you are comfortable with me taking your dog to the park or hiking before doing so. Also if there are any other activity your dog enjoys, let me know what they are and I will try my best to make them happen! Other than that, I will lounge with your pet at home and do my best to keep them calm and comfortable.

I’m happy to work with any breed! However, I do have a special place in my heart for larger dogs. Before working with a dog I would like to know what commands and hand signals they know, as well as any triggers they might have. If there is something in particular that makes your dog uncomfortable or scared, please let me know. Please let me how much food your dog eats and how often, (one cup? two cups? free feed?). I do not sit unaltered pets; if your dog is not spayed or neutered please look for another sitter. Please let me know the amount of time they can be left alone. Also, please let me know of any allergies or medical conditions your dog has.
Each sitter joining Rover needs to pass a background check. And by booking on Rover, you can get photo & message updates, 24/7 support, and reimbursement for eligible vet care.
