Cristina cancelled my dog’s boarding less than 10 minutes after I left drop-off, because my dog was barking and whimpering while she was working. I am very surprised and unsure why my dog was acting out, whether out of fear in a new space, lack of attention, or both. She did let me know in another half hour Teddy has calmed down, but I had already arranged for alternative care with pick-up on the way. I was up front about my dog’s long history of medical and behavioral issues including Velcro-dog personality and managing general anxiety (on the plus side, he is crate trained, loves all strangers equally, and no longer shows signs of separation anxiety). These were confirmed prior to booking, at meet-and-greet, and at drop-off, and Cristina had agreed to board Teddy a month in advance. In hindsight, I get the impression that Cristina uses working from home as an opportunity for a side gig and probably does enjoy a dog’s company outside, but may not actually want to share living space with an animal or provide companionship at home. Given this is my/Teddy’s first negative feedback in 4 years of using Rover, this is clearly an isolated incident with Cristina and I will not book with her again.

I care for pets by following their usual routines as closely as possible, whether in my home or a client’s home. This includes feeding on schedule, regular potty breaks and walks, playtime, and plenty of affection. I make sure pets feel comfortable, safe, and relaxed, and I always provide photo and message updates so owners feel at ease.
A typical day
We’ll enjoy daily walks, playtime, and plenty of one-on-one attention. I tailor activities to each dog’s energy level — whether that’s longer walks and games or calmer enrichment and cuddle time. I also make sure there’s time to relax so dogs feel comfortable and at home.
