Pet care experience

Sniffari Tours Daily

I bring a teacher’s touch to caring for your pup! As a former elementary school teacher, I’ve got loads of experience in behavior management, patience, and creative problem-solving. Whether it’s helping a shy pet feel safe or channeling a high-energy pup’s zoomies into a fun game, I know how to keep things running smoothly (and joyfully!). I’m also a bit of a pet-training enthusiast. I’ve even taught my cats to use pet doors and hang out with me unleashed while I garden—basically, I’ve turned them into honorary dogs! They’re super social and cuddly because I believe every animal deserves love, enrichment, and positive interactions. I absolutely LOVE dogs, but we're currently at our max pet capacity. So, I pour my animal affection into my kitties and helping others by volunteering at the DuPage animal shelter, where I get to meet all kinds of amazing furry friends. I've also recently taken on raising and releasing monarchs in an effort to restore the dwindling population. Our garden is a designated Monarch Way Station. I've tagged and released hundreds of monarch butterflies over the last 3 summers. In short, I combine my teaching skills, training know-how, and pure love for animals to give pets—and their people—a fun, safe, and worry-free experience!

Safety, trust & environment

I am highly skilled at reading animal body language. The most important thing in keeping animals safe and calm is to determine how they're feeling in order to provide what they need--whether it's space, food, play or something more serious like medical attention. I make sure every animal has a corner of his/her own to take time needed privacy or R&R. I make sure animals in my care have plenty of opportunities to play, are stimulated, cuddled (if that's what they like), fed a healthy diet and feel like a part of the family.

Cristina is wonderful! She helped us out when we needed someone on short notice. She came over for a meet and greet and was right on time. She is a very good communicator and a really good person. She has a calm and gentle nature and was the perfect person to walk our Juna who can get overly excited at times. Can’t wait to have Cristina back again!

Cristina was always prompt and carried out the requested responsibilities for care of our cat. She shared notes about him and sent pictures. Our cat is not the easiest to interact with and she approached him with the same enthusiasm and care as a cat she would own. I highly recommend Cristina as we will undoubtedly use her again.

Cristina was reliable, always showed up on time, and took good basic care of my cats while I was away. She even offered to return for an extra visit (for no charge) when her schedule shifted. My cats were safe and fine when I returned home. That said, I tend to be very detail-oriented with pet care instructions, and I did notice some smaller things that I would have preferred be handled more carefully (cleanliness around the litter boxes, returning things to how I left them, etc.). Communication during visits was also fairly brief compared to what I’m used to from my regular sitter. Overall, I’d describe the experience as adequate and dependable, though perhaps not the best fit for owners who prefer very meticulous updates and instruction-following.
