Safety, trust & environment

When I’m in a client’s home, I follow their instructions, my goal is to keep their pet’s normal routine as closely as possible, same feeding times, walk schedule, and any medications, so there’s minimal disruption while they’re away. I also make sure to give plenty of one-on-one attention and playtime, keep the home secure and tidy, and stay alert to any changes in behavior, eating, or energy level. I’m also careful with yard safety, checking that fences and gates are secure before letting a dog out and keeping an eye on them the whole time, rather than assuming a fenced yard means no supervision is needed. I also always keep the owner updated with photos or messages during the stay

Let me know if your dog has any distinct needs, dietary preferences, or behaviors that I should be aware of! As well as their preferred schedule/routine, commands they know, reactivity with other people/dogs, or general quirks.

A typical day

I love starting the day with a morning walk with a dog! I’ve read that them smelling around the neighborhood is similar to a human reading their morning paper. If your dog isn’t a fan of walks that’s no problem too! When I have access to a fenced in yard, playtime there is also an integral part of the day, letting the dog let loose and run around. We’ll play with toys inside and outside, and weather permitting, just relax outside for a bit and enjoy the fresh air! And then of course, any permissible food and treats, and plenty of belly rubs and attention. I’m up for any activity that the owner and dog would like!

Pet care experience

After 15 years with my dog, I’ve transitioned to being the go-to dog walker and sitter for my family and friends, and am excited to expand! I have experience caring for dogs in every phase of life, from the energetic puppy days, to the senior days that required more attention. I understand firsthand what it takes to look after an aging dog, from mobility issues, to medication schedules, to just understanding an individual dog’s quirks. But, I’m just as comfortable with the energy and playfulness of puppies and young dogs, and I adjust my approach to fit whatever stage of life a dog is in. Working from home with limited meetings allows me to dedicate the time and care to dogs that they deserve, and I don’t mind the company myself! Whether your dog needs a walk, backyard exercise, feeding, a drop-in check, or someone to cuddle with on the couch while you’re away, I can accommodate your pet's needs! I treat every dog I meet with the love, kindness, and affection that I gave my dog, and I can’t wait to share that with more local dogs!

Courtney stayed at our house for 1 week with our energetic 4 year old lab, Ace, and he couldn't have been in better hands! Courtney kept us updated with daily pictures of Ace in various states of playing, eating, and sleeping, which was both reassuring and entertaining. She kept Ace on his normal schedule, and was even able to give him some extra playtime outside with her remote work schedule. Not only was Ace well taken care of, but the house in perfect condition as well. She came by again a few weeks after her stay, and based on Ace's reaction when he saw her, he definitely loves her too! Highly recommend trusting your pets with Courtney!
