Safety, trust & environment

In a client's home, I would refer to any instructions given by the client for how best to take care of their pet. I will keep pets leashed at all times on walks, only feed them as directed by the client, and adjust playing & walking to meet their specific energy & mobility needs. As an example of the care I currently provide my own senior dog, she has access to a fenced backyard, gets regular walks around the block or to nearby parks (adjusted for her mobility level each day), and spends the majority of her time cuddling & snoring on my lap. For house sitting requests, I would be with your pets overnight in addition to dropping in to check on them or take them for walks throughout the day. If they cannot be left alone for up to 4 hours at a time, I also offer "Constant Care" house sitting at 1.5x my standard rate. Dog walks and weather safety: Safety is my first priority and I may modify a scheduled dog walk in cases of hot weather that I believe may pose a safety hazard to your pet. To determine whether it is safe to walk your pet, I factor in your dog's breed, age, overall health, the ground surface temperature, and the availability of shade and grass on our route. Depending on the risk level each day, I may adjust the scheduled walk time to avoid peak temperatures, or substitute some or all of the walk with at-home playtime & potty breaks. I also carry a small fan and a water bowl on every walk to keep your dog cool as we go.

Pet care experience

I've had four-legged family members for as long as I can remember, and I've been a reliable pet sitter for friends and family since I was a teenager. I have experience caring for dogs and cats, particularly senior pets. I also have experience administering oral and topical medications to dogs, as well as oral and inhalant medications to cats. For walking experience, I've walked huskies, aussies, boxers, maltipoos, pugs, collies, shih tzus, puppies, elderly dogs, and more! I typically walk only one or two dogs at a time. I have very limited experience walking more than one high-energy large dog at a time, but I would be open to giving it a trial run as long as your pups aren't too wild!

Courtney has been a God send! I started using Rover just a few months ago and she was my very first dog walker and first experience…and I have nothing but positive things to say!! She’s very responsive, responsible and sends me pictures of my senior pup when I’m away. I can see the pictures and her messages and it’s comforting, and brings me peace knowing he’s in great hands. ❤️ I highly recommend her.
