Pet care experience

Vet Assistant-detail oriented

Hi! My name is Courtney and I have ten years of professional experience caring for animals. I`ve owned many animals throughout my life (cats, dogs, bunnies, guinea pigs, chinchilla, fish, frogs, cockatiels, and hermit crabs). My two rescue dogs have behavior issues (one is reactive to humans and the other to dogs) that do not allow me to board in my home. I currently work at a wildlife rehab facility where I rehabilite our sick or injured native wildlife! My professional animal care experience began when I started volunteering at my local humane society in high school. I then worked as a kennel technician at a vet clinic until becoming trained as a veterinary assistant. I have worked as a veterinary assistant in general practice, emergency medicine, and shelter medicine. In 2018 I spent four weeks in South Africa completing a Pre-Veterinary program where I worked with goats, sheep, pigs, cattle, tortoises, antelope, and other wildlife. Therefore, I have a broad range of skills caring for different species as well as different medical conditions. My job experience has made me very detail oriented so I keep a very close eye on any animals in my care. I also keep a very close eye on new or preexisting medical conditions. My vet assistant brain sometimes finds me pointing out medical issues before owners even notice them. My work with my own dogs behavior issues, as well as my many years working or volunteering at an animal shelter, has allowed me to work with and understand a broad range of animal behavior issues. If your pet has behavior issues please let me know in advance so we can create a plan and be set up for success during our meet and greet! I have experience injecting insulin, administering oral medication, injections (adequan etc.) and fluids, as well as providing specialized care for geriatric or special needs animals. I can also provide post operative care for your pets. I love to give detailed updates and send lots of pictures. I also love to do watercolors and often find my petsitting kids to be a great inspiration! You might get a surprise watercolor of your baby if my schedule allows me the free time and creative headspace to paint! I’m excited to care for your furry, scaley, feathery, or bald kiddo or kiddos!

Safety, trust & environment

I think having a meet and greet or thorough instructions about your pets routine prior to the first sitting is key. I am very detail oriented and will follow their routine to the letter! I have veterinary experience so I am always keeping an eye out for any health concerns that may arise and carefully monitor food/water intake. I will give individual care to each animal that caters exactly to their needs!💕

We loved our baby being with Courtney. She was so good about communication, sending pictures, and being a great snuggle buddy for our dog. She clearly loves all animals. Our house was well tended to.

Courtney was amazing! We’ve never had a pet sitter before, always had family or friends so I was nervous and Courtney exceeded expectations. She was kind, communicative, always on time and so easy to work with. Courtney sent photos every visit and always left a message about the cats.

Courtney is the best! She always takes the best care of my cat. I have been traveling a lot recently and knowing my pet is in the best hands is one less thing to worry about.

Does your pet need specialized care (extra brushing, extra potty breaks, pee pads, etc)? I'd love to work with you and your pet so answering these questions (if they apply) will allow me to give specialized care to your furbaby!
